Onside kick alternative

You hardly see any onside kicks be successful nowadays. Obviously isn’t going to change but it would be cool to see more successful.
A dumb idea that would be super entertaining would be to give the team kicking 3 guys and the receiving team 5 guys and they line up for a Hail Mary except it’s a punt and it’s whoever comes out with the ball

An onsides kick is supposed to be a longshot.

I'm still trying to figure out what problems the new kickoff rules are to supposed to solve at the cost of surprise onsides kicks.

You should not have to declare if you are kicking an onsides kick. Period.

The best alternative to an onside kick is that after scoring the team has the option to go for it on 4th and 25 from their own 25 yard line. Penalties committed by the defense are applied with same yardage but they don't change the down. so PI would be 15 yards. the ball would now be on the 40 but its still 4th and 25.
