You could argue this, just don't think it would be very convincing.

They won 4 playoff games by double digits against 4 top 10 teams. They were up 34-0 against the #1 team in the country.

They dominated. It doesn’t mean they were the best team ever but they had an incredible playoff run
They got their sh*t together at the right moment, and never looked back.

That should be a lesson for every team going forward. It should signal a change in College Football going forward. Going undefeated might not be the goal any more. Winning the conference might not be as important as having your team healthy at the end of the year.

I don't like teams hosting playoff games unless they are the top team in the playoff. If you're going to reward teams for being best, let them host. In hindsight hosting seemed like more of an advantage than getting a bye. They need to work on that.

Personal opinions on this:

It's hard to look in a vacuum of one year and decide much of anything on that.

Can't just seed on who won conferences. Arizona St. and Boise St. being 3/4 caused a good bit of issues in the entire playoff

Losing a game matters, don't protect conference title game losers (they never did this from 2014-2023 so why start in 2024?) Texas and PSU got protected in the seedings but should not have been. They should both get in, but no reason PSU should have been ahead of OSU in the seedings for example (both have 2 losses, OSU has 2 better wins and H2H)

Those are off the top of my head and again you can argue forever on this

LSU 2019 also got 3 rings for the SECCG Peach Bowl and Title Game. Kind of dumb but seems like a standard practice now.

No doubt.

That ESPN DEI training showed thru in the seeding. The BigXII wasn't great in the CFB Playoff when they had Texas and OU. No Group of five team will ever win a CFB Playoff. Give them a spot but don't try to spoon feed them.

I think that alone fixes a lot of the issues we saw

Seeding should have been something like the below:

Oregon
UGA
ND
Texas or OSU
OSU or Texas
PSU
Tenn
BSU
Arizona St
Indiana
SMU
Clemson

That alone could have fixed a number of these issues.

In all seriousness, what's more impressive? Ohio State gets the extra game, but I'm legitimately curious as to what looks more impressive on paper?

OHIO STATE
Beating (10-2) Tennessee (aka, Orange Nebraska)?
Beating (13-0) Oregon
Beating (12-2) Texas
Beating (14-1) Notre Dame

LSU
Beating (12-1) UGA
Beating (12-1) Oklahoma
Beating (14-0) Clemson

Both titles that Ohio State has won in the playoff era, were times when they shouldn’t and wouldn’t have been in a title game.

Why shouldn't they have last season?

OSU beat #1, #3, #4, #5, #7, #8 of the playoff ranking poll. They were #6 so couldn't beat themselves and ND beat UGA and knocked them out. They beat 6 of the other top 7 teams in the country as per rankings AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

So OSU's resume based on wins is more impressive whether you think they were a better team than 2019 LSU or not. I do not think they were better. I think the teams they beat when they beat them is impressive, but losing 2 games no matter how it happens or to whom discounts them being in the overall GOAT category in any way

They needed that playoff run to wash the stink off of losing to a Michigan squad with no QB

assuming by "run" they mean their path in the playoffs themselves.

which I guess would technically be correct since literally no other team in the history of the sport won 4 playoff games in one year before last season.

As I said, they only got in because they expanded the amount of teams. Any other year, they wouldn’t have made it. Whether it was top 2 in a BCS or top 4 for the playoff era. They lost 2 games and weren’t in the top 4 this year. They didn’t even play in a conference title game

It says it's the "greatest run." They did win 4 playoff games. No one has ever done that.

Every sec + national champion in the 4 team playoff era played 3 playoff games (sec champ game plus playoffs) against teams as high or higher ranked than OSU did.

Take 2019 lsu for instance played #4 uga #4 OU and number 3 Clemson and won each by double digits.

Osu played number 7 1 3 5
