Canceling the press conference, although we all want and deserve answers, may have been the correct thing to do. What if Joe Pa spilled his guts and basically publically crucified Sandusky. Sandusky's lawyers could possibly use that to their advantage later on to lessen the charges in some way.

I'm no lawyer, but I've seen things like that happen. Paterno needs to answer everything to the authorities and ask the prosecution what actions to take to best serve them.

I don't think you will have to worry about that.

Awful end to this whole story but there are no good ends when you turn a blind eye to what went on for years. Sorry Joe there is just no way around you and the rest of the administration being fired

You should have retired a few years ago and you would have been spared the indignity of being fired

This will not fly with donors. He is out or people will see how nasty an alumni group as large as Penn State can be.

This book touched me in more ways than I can recall. When I read "Touched: The Jerry Sandusky Story," I felt as if Jerry's masculine, sculpted hands were literally reaching out and caressing my succulent, 26 year old body. The words captivated my very imagination, my soul and ... my hands. If you are interested in this, be sure to read Fun With Pedophiles: The...

100% false advertising by Mr. Sandusky. Not a single page in this book "touches" on how to appropriately gain the trust of young, at-risk boys, and then use that trust to perpetrate horrifying sexual assaults on the very children who turned to you for guidance and support. Almost as disappointing as the first time I watched "Touched by an Angel." Don't even get me started...

It is only a shame if Paterno knew zilch, but he knew enough to follow up. How could he not know about 98?

Why do you think the supposed successor to the crown suddenly left the team soon after the allegations?

Given the 98 allegations, how could they not fully investigate the 2002 incident?

Once again, if Paterno KNEW NOTHING it is a shame because when it comes to sexual abuse of a child, you are guilty even if proven innocent. You never get that taint off your reputation. Never.

From all evidence presented to this point, it is almost impossible to believe Paterno and the other Powers That didn't have enough suspicion to turn this over to the police and to FOLLOW up on the matter especially considering they continued to allow the guy to use University facilities.

The real shame is that they chose to bury the story and more people were hurt. Maybe in the coming weeks, new evidence will clear Paterno, but at this point he disgusts me, as does the university and the asshat that left the shower instead of confronting Sandusky and beating the crap out of him.

Not really, but it may give them ammunition to cross examine Joe for inconsistent statements. However, if he tells the whole truth now and doesn't change his story, he should have nothing to worry about with respect to helping Sandusky's defense.

It would likely hurt his own public image and provide good evidence for the civil suits sure to be filed against PSU.

Honestly think its the "out of sight, out of mind" thing and some people take abuse too lightly. If no one is complaining, it really isn't that bad in their minds. They don't think about the potential for future abuse.
