Someone I follow on YouTube broke down some stats going back a long time ago teams when teams picked up/refused to touch the trophy after winning their conference. I don't remember the exact stats, but the superstition is way overblown. A bunch of teams lost the Stanley Cup Finals after not touching the trophy for winning their conference. And several Stanley Cup winners touched the trophy after winning their conference.

Well if both teams don’t touch their trophy, one still loses. Like last year.

It's a silly superstition regardless. I'm sure there were multiple instances where one team held the trophy. And the other didn't. And the team that didn't, still lost the finals.
