It doesn’t feel good, but we sure missed our opportunities. A game 7 is what it is, and Dallas ultimately was the better team if we break it down period by period.

100%. What a huge letdown after making all those moves to strike deep towards the end of the season.

Pretty sure that’ll be the last game Bednar coaches in Colorado.

I’m a big Stars fan, and predicted them to win it all before the season started. It just felt like their year. Team is stacked and well rounded all the way around. Rantenen with 3 goals and an assist in 8 minutes to seal the deal is unreal. That was a mind boggling game. I think Dallas handles both the Jets or Blues in 6 games or less. I haven’t been able to see the Stars win a cup in my lifetime… here’s to hoping.

I'll do a long form post just to help myself get over this, because damn it's tough after that

Colorado was the better team 5 on 5 no question. Their shitty PP lost it for them - plenty of squandered opportunities. Dallas PP was always dangerous and their PK was aggressive and really limited the chances. The 3rd period was a complete choke job, letting Mikko skate in unguarded twice and take a shite penalty.

Cale was absolute shite this series. I don't care if he was injured or if he got 3 points in Game 6. If he plays average, it was over in 6. He'd better be injured given his performance.

Dallas is an incredibly deep team that plays a style which just happens to be kryptonite against the Avs. With Miro and Robo this is even more effective - Miro dominates against Cale at full strength it seems. They will be a problem for many years and the way the system works it is is a big deal. I do think the Mikko drama angle was overstated but obviously he was almost Dallas' entire team tonight - of course he was because he was invisible for the first 4 games.
If they get both players back, they should make the final. Wouldn't be surprised if it was Dallas/Florida.

I'd give Bednar one more year - and as much as I love him, if he can't get past Dallas he should go. Love the calm demeanor, but at some point we need some fire and it doesn't seem like he has it. We have fully entered LA Kings v Oilers territory.

I would have much rather the Avs go down 0-4 in the first period than the absolute gut wrenching bullshite that happened tonight. frick me.

At this point, I want the Jets, Leafs, or Capitals to win the Cup. frick everyone else.

Dallas also was missing their two best players so yeah I would hope the Avs were better 5 on 5

The window is closing. Look at the ages of our nucleus.

It’s done with Bednar, otherwise we seal the deal. One cup.

Idk that I can remember a more gut wrenching scenario for a losing team. Trading away an elite player to a team you just can’t seem to get past only to be up 2 goals in the 3rd period of game 7 in their building and that player rips off a hatty with an assist to send you home again. I’d vomit if I were an Avs fan.

Let’s add another wrinkle to it that makes it worse as an Avs fan. Actually trading him to the East and thinking “at least he’s over there,” just to have Carolina’s haphazardly ran self trade him to that team you can’t seem to get past.

I think all of us Avs fans have had a lingering feeling since the CAR/DAL trade that we’d be unhappy at some point with him in DAL. Stylistically fits his game in their systems, sure didn’t in CAR where we figured he’d finish out the season.

Then you add in all the rest, and yeah - I’m still vomiting.

EDIT: I’ll also add in that I’ve seen a lot of heat for the refs on the Drury holding call, and I don’t get it. Seemed pretty clearly a penalty, and that’s when we all knew how things would wind up.

Good grief Bucky. Joseph should never be scoring in a Game 7.

Stars are going to be a wagon for a while. Avs are in trouble with their pending UFAs/lack of cap space and lack of draft picks the next 2 years.

For those of yall that did t follow the regular season St Louis had a horrible regular season, went on a late run and just barely squeaked into the playoffs at the last second. Meanwhile Winnipeg is a first seed. Just goes to show anything can happen in the playoffs.
