yep.....
but what will NASCAR do if the do something????
bigger restricter plates???? slow em down to 180??? BFD
solid concrete wall 10 ft high????? push the stands higher???? Lots of $$$$$$$$$
I mean shite.....there's risk involved in everthing whether it be attending a NASCAR race or skydiving
or just let the frickers pass on the yellow line

There isn't a problem IMO. Thats the risk associated with racing, and unless they make a 10 foot wall around the whole track it can't be changed. The fence did its job...nothing more that can be done imo.

yaw keep sucking me in, yeah keep it as is, but im waiting for a presser where they change it.

The plates are part of the problem. The restricted flow impacts horsepower and throttle response and contributes to the pack racing.
A 10 foot high concrete wall does the same thing as eliminating a certain number of seats because of the sight lines. You also greatly increase the risk to the driver because if the 99 had hit a 10 foot tall concrete wall, even with a SAFER barrier, it would have been real real bad.
I think for Daytona and Talladega, the easy solution is to slow the cars down by reducing the size of the engines. Cut down the CID on them. At one time the Busch series ran a V-6 engine package, for the plate tracks go back to that. You cut the speeds and you greatly reduce or eliminate the need for plates and give the drives throttle response back.
Also, get rid of that damn double yellow line. If they want to run on the apron, let them.

Kyle Busch is ALWAYS the bad guy

speeds aren't the problem. hitting the wall is going to suck regardless. the cars are about as safe as they can possibly be but you're right, if that retainer fence was concrete when he hit his lid on the fence....he doesn't walk away from that.
like kez and carl both said, nascars rules about the yellow lines at super speedways are the reason for these wrecks....if carl cuts down on him and kez can move without being penalized he would have. edwards said today, i guess someone is going to have to die before they change anything.
i dont really understand why they instituted this rule in the first place...it doesn't exist at other tracks...i watch a lot of nascar so me not remembering why they would do this tells me they did it randomly without justification other than someone just being a dumbass.

The rule exists because of the angle of the track versus that of the apron...when cars go down on the apron and try to get back on the track they lose control and cause a wreck. Now I suppose the question is should this exist in areas like the tri-oval where its not that big of a deal or not.

Pts are in for Death Valley Racing. Missed my third straight win by 6 pts, extended my point lead, and moved to 336 overall in the world on yahoo fantasy racing. I know it wont happen but it would be cool to move into the top 50 for one week and see my race team on that list. I mean Im less than 100 pts out

see, drivers know that. i guess i do remember something about people getting too low and getting off the banking and wrecking but that shite is going to happen regardless...accidents happen one way or another if its not them getting off the banking its something like what happened to edwards today. Drivers know that if they do it they will wreck...Nascar is going to come under fire from the drivers until this rule is repealed.
Nascar basically forced todays wreck to happen...at least if the guys had a choice about where they ran you could blame an individual driver for sucking...this takes it out of the drivers hands...granted edwards came down on keselowski but if keselowski could have legally moved and won the race, he wouldn't have wrecked edwards...kyle busch probably would have...but keselowski wouldn't have.

Very classy comments by Carl Edwards
what did he say....I missed it

Basically he congratulated Keselowski and said it was his fault he tried to double block him and didn't realize he was down there when he went down on him. Also said he hoped all the fans were ok.

Holy shite biscuits! Just finished watching the race on DVR.
My thoughts:
Brad didn't do anything wrong. Everyone that said NASCAR set precedent by screwing Regan last year are right, and this is the result.
To be honest, I have always had a real dislike for Carl, and I have always thought he was fake (and I hate the damn backflip). No one can be that genuinely a nice guy. Well after his post race comments, I think he may really be just a stand up guy.
Second, did he actually get credit for running across the finish line? I'm surprised NASCAR didn't try to penalize him some how for running on the track.

And BTW was is just me or did it seem more like Carl did the whoel run the finish line in an attempt to win some fans over? Nothing about that screamed he was doing it for any honest reasons really

I agree with that

quote:No, there is no credit for walking/running across the stripe. He was credited with being the last car on the lead lap, so I think that was about 24th or so.

No penalty for running down the track - he was out of the way of the other cars, and there was an ambulance/safety vehicle at start/finish so he could say he was going to it.

Yikes, I wonder what those fans will be getting in terms of accommodation. I'm sure there is something that says "enjoy this race at your own risk", but you know stand-up Carl would still do something nice for them.
