I'm sure there is something that says "enjoy this race at your own risk"
From the disclaimers on the back of a ticket from the 2006 Pepsi 400 at Daytona - "The holder of this ticket expressly assumes all risk incident to the event, whether occurring prior to, during or subsequent to the actual event and agrees that all participants, sancioning bodies and all employees, agents, officers and directors of Daytona International Speedway, its affiliates and subsidiaries are hereby released from any and all claims arising from the event, including claims of negligence."

I figure NASCAR will give them tickets to a future event if they want it with all the hospitality stuff thrown in. Carl might send them an autograph or a get well card if they have their names which I am sure they do.

My mom said last night that one of the people treated was a "medical situation" and I told her yeah, someone had a heart attack when they saw a car flying at the fence. Lo and behold, I look at the story on NASCAR.com today and see
quote:

an eighth patient, also a female, was air-lifted to nearby Brookwood Hospital after suffering chest pains that occurred during or shortly after she witnessed the incident while sitting in the same grandstand section as the others who were injured.

Random trivia: what was the most deadly motorsports accident (in terms of amount of people killed)?

Wasn't it at the 24 Hours of LeMans back in the 60s? I want to say a car ran off the track in the rain and took out a grandstand.
