Everyone needs to go listen to the WM morning radio show interview from yesterday. He's still pissed about it and called Glenn a nutjob.
I see both sides. Glenn has been known to be a hothead, so it doesn't surprise me.
Glenn is a hothead and freely admitted he prolly shouldnt have said anything and he respects WM and their coach and was very complimentary and maybe he didnt mean anything by what he said and the lineup card......but they took it as disrespectful and it was first time in 30+ years he has seen the "ourselves" thing

I just always think it’s weird when these elite teams look for any excuse to get mad when they feel disrespected. Barbe was preseason 1
It’s like when Kirby and the UGA players said after they won a second title that nobody gave them a chance and they felt disrespected. I mean, you were preseason number 1 and had the best odds to win the title…. So disrespectful

I think the issue is we have a failure to communicate.
In my opinion, the issue wasn't anything that happened during the game. Win, lose, or draw. It was about what he said after the game. Character isn't a coat. You can't take it off and put it on whenever you want. 2 of the coaches on the staff are very devout Christians, attending multiple 5/6AM Bible studies weekly, hosting the team Bible study as well. One is the head of the FCA for the school. That's not to say the others aren't, I just know those guys and they're the real deal. So when you say the things he said to those guys after the game, and then say, "I'm a competitor, I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say," in one interview, then the next one with a half hearted apology probably isn't going to land. It's a how you act in private vs public hypocrisy that is being overlooked I believe.
Barbe won and deservedly so. I said from the very beginning of the year that you had to expect a revenge tour from them after losing last year prior to the state tournament. I said last week that any of the 4 could win as they were all great teams. No one is trying to take that away from them. It has zero to do with the kids and I know most wish none of the antics after the game would've happened at all, on both sides.
Congratulations to Barbe again on their TWELFTH title. They're currently the premier program in the state. They've been outstanding for a long time and will continue to be, of that I'm sure.

For sure both sides could have handled this better. Don't give the WM HC a free pass here, it was not just the line up card, it was some things he said in a radio interview. Same guy turns around yesterday and says "we'll see Barbe next year in the tourney if they are LUCKY enough to get there". This same guy will say things like that and turn around and say "what did I do wrong?"
You obviously did not hear Glenn's post game interview or you would know about his faith journey and where he is at. Barbe does all the same things with bible study, FCA, they are people of faith too, and practice it publicly and privately.
I live in SWLA, I have also lived in NE LA. Some good people in both areas, God fearing, salt of the earth, blue collar, passionate about their faith and family, and their sports! IMHO it was two competitive coaches caught up in a big moment, I disagree with Wade, things DO happen in the heat of the moment, husbands and wives say things to each other that they should not every day in the heat of the moment, does not always mean they have bad character, but I get what he was trying to say. Misunderstandings all the way around, wish it could have been handled different. Both coaches are older/experienced and I think/hope they will learn from this and handle it better moving forward.

I get your point, but when you look at many who are at the top of their profession, certain traits stand out. MJ got cut from his HS team, we all know Tom Brady's story, Kobe developed the "Mamba" mentality. Cecchini IS the GOAT of HS coaches, he is wired similarly. They are always looking for ways to stay on top, an edge, it is what keeps complacency from setting in. Brady was the master, "too slow", " too old", he would look for ANY slight to use as motivation. No different here.

This dude just compared Glenn Cecchini to Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, and Kobe Bryant!

He's using examples everyone will know.
Don't be that guy
You damn well know what he is saying, or you just have no business commenting in here

This is my absolute favorite... when someone tells another person they don't belong on a public forum.
Yes... he used examples everyone would know... in comparison to Glenn Cecchini. Are there not more appropriate comparisons? Maybe some winning coaches in other high school sports in Louisiana? Comparing him to the Jordan, Kobe, Brady... those aint the same bud.

Don't take it personal
I really didn't mean it that way.
Yes, he could have used local examples, and there would have been someone like you that knows them that disagrees because of that one time they kicked their dog

Don't know those guys, don't know how they are wired, what made them successful. I know Glenn. He IS the GOAT of LA HS baseball. The comparison in the context I presented it was sufficient.

Wow... didn't know you were close acquaintances with MJ, Brady and Kobe (#RIP)....
Take it easy guys. I was just pointing out that Cecchini is not on the same level as these guys. Is he competitive? Im sure he is... but he isnt on MJ's level. Sorry bud.
