He was a 30/31 year old running back, the beginning of the end. And from the old days of grinding FB….

OJ slashed and dashed with the Bills and had that killer instinct.

Simpson stated that when he was at San Francisco City College, he was recruited by some SEC and other Southern schools who wanted to make him the first Black player to play in the South/SEC. He wisely turned them down. At USC he made connections with the right people in the entertainment industry-USC alums, something that wouldn’t have happened at a Southern school. He never named the Southern schools that showed interest.

Who did they draft with these picks? Anyone of note or more importantly any alleged murderers or felons?

Montana was drafted in 1979. I'm not sure which pick was used.

All you have to do is look back at the history of the NFL and study the times when great players went to another team late in their careers.

Jimmy Taylor to Saints is another good example.

Chuck Foreman to New England is another. Paul Hornung also to the Saints in the expansion draft but never suited up due to injury and retired.

One Saint that was "washed up" who played pretty well in New Orleans was Doug Atkins.

I loved the way he simply tossed the ball to the referee after each touchdown he scored.

Proof that there are much worse things in the world than celebrating touchdowns

Joe Willie Namath. 1977 Rams. Played just 4 games. Like Mickey Mantle, no knee cartilage left.

I was a Giants fan, hated Namath on the Jets, but he was as fearless and gutsy a QB as I've ever seen. Routinely hanging in the pocket, punished severely after tossing 25 yard darts downfield in NY tundra conditions. Then picking himself off the frozen turf.

O. J. Simpson of the Buffalo Bills was traded to the San Francisco 49ers before the 1978 season for five draft picks. 2nd and 3rd for 1978 1st and 4th for 1979 2nd for 1980

This should have wrecked that franchise, instead they won a SB a few years later and became the team of the 80s.

I agree with you about Namath, he was old school tough as hell. Man had a cannon for an arm. Back in the late 60's he was ridiculously famous also. His shag carpet New York City penthouse, his bar and bachelor lifestyle. Not to mention his "We'll win, I guarantee it" Super Bowl quote.

Yup, Namath was all that. Old school tough. Could not be intimidated. Cannon arm. Smart. Called his own plays. Called the Super Bowl win as 18 point underdogs. Blew peoples' minds.

Right...his bachelor lifestyle and celebrity and swagger was all the rage. Namath did it first, didn't he?

The guys who never saw him look just at his stats and yawn. Guy's throws were all 20+ rockets down the field and deep sidelines routes. Nobody today does that nor compares. Jets could have won 2 SBs with that group. Too bad the opposing teams hated him so much they went for his knees (like Ben Davidson).

Those Jets vs Raiders games were don't-miss classics.
