But UNC and UVA are 2-7 type teams in the modern SEC.

UNC and NC State being public schools and dependent on state funding are more of a package deal than Duke. It's like saying that Indiana and Notre Dame are packages.
Duke does nothing for football. Duke deserves to be left behind.

Which is a good thing because Sankey was an idiot.
He made the sec exponentially harder by adding traditional football powerhouses and then voluntarily signed up to have half of the league to get an extra loss. All while getting worked in TV negotiations.
He has been smacked around by the Big ten which has exponentially grown their revenue in TV deals while diluting the schedule by taking on two bottom dwellers for every 1 good team making their schedules even more of a joke.

I really don't want any more teams given the SEC can't figure out how to schedule with the 16 we already have.
However if they were dead fricking set on adding more and keeping the nine game schedule the play would be to add something different that expanded the SEC brand and I see more of an argument for adding Kansas, North Carolina and Duke plus trying for either Notre Dame or settling for Florida State if ND wouldn't bite
The schedules get dumber with that though. You probably have to have four divisions that rotate. Worse yet you further decrease the frequency of the traditional SEC matchups that I value.
Division 1 (NW): Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Vanderbilt
Division 2 (South): LSU, A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss, MSU
Division 3: (North): Alabama, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Duke
Division 4 (SE): Florida, Georgia, Auburn, North Carolina, South Carolina
Stupid really but the best I could see because of balance issues. Vanderbilt loses Tennessee every year as do LSU vs Florida, LSU vs Alabama, Alabama vs Auburn, and Texas vs A&M. But stupid shite happens when you have too many (>12) teams in a conference.

Duke is the reigning ACC football champions and they're undefeated so far this year. UNC is a bigger overall brand because of Jordan but they don't bring any more to the table than Duke in football.

Just so you know, if you perpetuate even more expansion, you’re gay. I don’t want a 4 loss national champion and neither should you but you idiots that want 24 team super leagues and 32 team playoffs will probably eventually win out.

Culturally (ie caring about football) NC State and Ca Texh are much better fits than the whine and cheese crowd of UNC and UVA. That being said, UNA and UVA are all significantly wealthier and COULD be better monetary additions.
