It would be better for college football because it would help maintain the balance of power in the sport instead of consolidating everything into the SEC and the BIG. The ACC should also add WVU when the Big 12 and Pac 12 merge.

Why? If they are forced to join a conference the Big 10 is going to have WAY more money to offer plus most of their traditional rivals. The ACC can’t compete with that

They’re already a member of the ACC in all sports except for football.

If the ACC tried to add a single team, their current GOR would be ended and multiple teams would leave in a heartbeat.

ND is contractually obligated to join the ACC if they join a conference...

So many false statements in one thread.

I read ND must ask the Pope before leaving ACC.

The Irish are hitched to a pair of television contracts. The deal with NBC runs through 2025 and draws approximately $15 million per year. ESPN's contract with the ACC runs through 2036. That grant of rights deal includes language that if Irish choose to join a conference in football before 2036, they are contractually obligated to join the ACC.

They probably will because the ACC desperately needs ND whereas the B10 doesn't. I'm sure they'll keep their NBC deal and bowl game revenue.

That's wussy talk. ND will go where they can get the most money and it's either the Big Ten or the SEC. The ACC isn't worth saving for football purposes. You are talking like a sissy who clutches their pearls.

Yes and no one cares about ND women's soccer in the ACC. No one even cares about their basketball in the ACC. Let Duke and UNC wallow in their crapulence in their basketball conference.

I think there would have to be an out clause for major conference upheaval like we're seeing right now. 4 major teams flipped conferences.

you would think...but I've not heard any mention of that nor found any article on it unless I've completely overlooked it...there must be something if there is so much talk of "will ND join the Big 10" unless they are doing it for clicks and ratings...

Why would the ACC GOR be concerned with what other conferences do?

What kind of talk do you have going? Notre Dame is not worried about money. They generate plenty on their own. The ACC has won three of the last nine football championships. That’s more than the Big 10 and PAC-12 combined. They are contractually obligated to join the ACC through 2036 if they join a conference. They are not breaking that to go to the Big 10 or SEC.

ND has no need to join a conference. They have five ACC games, USC, Stanford and they’ll never get rid of the Navy game to repay Navy for keeping Notre Dame afloat during WWII, so they are locked down on their schedule. If the playoffs expand ND has zero need to join a conference, even without the playoff expansion it is unlikely ND will join a conference for football.
