Starting DH Nelson Cruz went on the 10 day DL from slipping down the dugout stairs and twisting his ankle after a home run.

Starting C Mike Zunino went on the 10 day DL after straining his oblique on the last swing during BP the day before Opening Day.

Starting 1B Ryon Healy is on the 10 day DL after spraining his ankle during a weight room accident.

How you know it's really getting out of hand...

Play-by-play announcer Dave Sims is current out after tearing his achilles tendon during a pickup basketball game.

Radio broadcaster Rick Rizzs tore his biceps muscle during the same pickup basketball game and is out for 10 days, missing his first road trip in 40 years.

Dudes need to take up chess or something in their spare time.

apparently Bryant Gumbel got a rise out of Jeter in an interview that airs today on HBO when he suggested that they might be tanking on purpose

Did you intend to put this in a thread about the Mariners?

They're the new mid-2000's Blue Jays for me. Every year I pick the Mariners to make the playoffs or make a strong run and every year they fall short for whatever reason. On paper, they should be much better than they are with the talent that they have.

The Mariners always seem to have a big weakness somewhere on their roster. They’ll address that weakness, then either those players will be busts or another area will suddenly become a big problem.

They are also in a division with a lot of other really good teams recently. Ten years ago the Angels were one of the best teams in baseball, then the Rangers had a run, now the Astros are starting their run. Meanwhile, the A’s will occasionally come out of the cellar and be really good for a couple of years.

I will teach you a thing or two about life in the fast lane.

Baseball shares characteristics with life in general, physics, present medical science, and injuries are part of it.

Half the teams in the NBA playoffs are missing star or two. By all star break pitchers will break down, someone will get seriously injured off the field and one team will have statistical clumping of all that. Luck.
Risk we should accept or avoid.

We do not need voodoo to explain it. Using such language prevents parents and players from facing the facts.
If you toss the javelin you get shoulder issues.
Soccer and football, cte.
Did you see the Netflix design special on the guy who designed Nike shoes? He was injured
Pole vaulting. He was brought into shoe design biz then.
