Will a player ever retire without going pro?

Could a great QB make enough NIL money in 4/5 years of college to just opt out of NFL?

Has this already happened?

Imagine Tebow in the NIL age.

4 years of college at $5-8 million.

Or would it be more?

Not anyone who is good enough to be a legit NFL player.

If they make enough in college to set them up, they just be pretty good and would likely get good money in the pros.

Now if someone makes a lot in college and gets hurt toward the end of their last year, then I could see them not going pro.

no, unless he's hurting, and wants to be able to walk when he's 50.

I see so many Former NFL players who should be in great shape for their age, and they look and walk like a crippled man. Legs, knees, etc shot.

Back in the day players like Manning took out insurance policies while they were in college to cover their having career ending injuries while in collete.

Darn, I wonder if there is now a market for similar NIL ending injuries?

Yes but it’s now the other way around. Arkansas Coach John Calipari took out insurance policies on his players in case they got hurt the school would be reimbursed NIL money.

Imagine thinking his dad didn't already have a tax free donation shelter in place back then. Cecil Newton could've really learned from Bob
