Yes, obviously. But NIL has made me question the amount of money our society ties up in these games. Could be better spent and given to better people.
You and me both. I look at sports salaries and entertainment earnings in general. Here we have hurricanes ravaging the coast, flooding North Carolina, fires burning LA (granted, some of those victims are millionaires in said industries), and oh yeah…a terrorist attack in a city with crappy infrastructure.
I hate when things are made political, but when your city has defunded fire and police, or when your state is near the bottom in education, or when your constant electing of corrupt officials has set your area back…yeah, it makes me question the priorities of things and become resentful of things like kids making $10 million to throw a football.

Saying that money could be put in better places than the pockets of college athletes and their agents is “Communism” according to you? Take a minute to reflect brother!
I’ve also been through this argument before.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, these all-in “capitalists” will be the first ones to bitch when Blackrock or somebody buys up this charred land in California and makes billions.

Dumbass kids. I offer 19.99%

Twenty percent to the agent, and forty percent for taxes. It disappears quickly.

This is literally a communism response
Nothing he's saying is communist.
He's talking about people in a free market making wiser decisions about where to spend their money. It's about as far away from communism as you can get. No central planning. No state control. A free market. Wise decisions at the individual level rather than arbitrary ones from apparatchiks.

What I don't understand is how do recruits even get in contact with these guys. Like how does a recruit know which agents are "good". With the NFL the agents have to be approved or something like that. I remember before NIL certain shoe companies would steer recruits to certain schools.

When you are getting for something that you've been doing for free who cares right ?
Tell some 18 yr old, hey I can get you a million but I need to take 200K he's like frick yeah go ahead Bro.
It's like Monopoly Money

They call the kids, the kids don’t call them
If the kids called them every high school senior in America would be looking for money
They only have incentive to take kids who get deals offered to them

This isn’t robbery . This is fair . These agents are doing this work in hopes these kids sign with them for the NFL. The agents need to make theirs up front as best as possible because these kids aren’t loyal. I get why they are doing it

One hand- the players should get as much as they can from whatever deal is offered. That’s capitalism!!
Other Hand- agents shouldn’t be getting 20% from college players. They should be limited to 3%-5%. What they are doing is greedy and unethical. Poor players are victims of capitalism!!

Bingo. You can’t be “pro current system of paying players” and “anti agents charging 20%”.
For the record, I believe both are nonsense.

This is the shite people are talking about when they say college football desperately needs a CBA.
Are agent fees regulated by the NFL CBA?

If you’re trying to get rich as an agent, get certified and represent pros, don’t try to collect commissions on 6 figure deals.
Why not? And I agree 20% is outrageous

He’s advocating that individuals spend their money freely elsewhere on more worthwhile endeavors. Not communism

They’re regulated by the NFLPA and agents have to be certified by them.
Just one layman’s opinion, but I think CFB is beyond the point where a CBA can be done. It would solve this (and a few other) problems but there are so many different interests/groups I can’t even visualize how collective bargaining would work now.

It would be a good business opportunity for some wanna-be agent to offer a flat 3-5% fee for college kids and just undercut these type of guys. More money to the players and then you stack a book of clients. Eventually it'll add up.

My question is why did he need an analytics firm to multiply $10,000,000 times 3%, and $1,000,000 times 20%?
