The NFL was in a lose-lose situation. No matter what they did (or didn't do), the idiots on both sides were going to lost their fricking minds for one reason or another.

Its the same pathetic shite that Coke has been trying. Coke was an American product, born and bred in the South. Yet all they do now is cater to foreign values, whose people couldnt care less about the taste of Coke

And of all the major sports out there, football is the only one that cant get into the Olympics, strictly because is so American. Yet morons act like embracing that fact is wrong

The frick are you talking about?

Its a purely American sport

Part of that purely American event is the inclusion of our anthem as a unifying moment, not a divisive one

To eliminate it, because, muh butthurts, will only kill its American exclusivity. As we saw happen with the backlash

Do you watch football because of the national anthem?

Idiot doesn't realize they never showed the anthem on tv until the kneeling started.

No it was showed before but no one paid attention to it.

Should have just done like college and not have the team's on the field at all like it used to be until the military started paying the NFL to air it

lol at Steve Kerr, guy really is a dumb shite

He's as big of a ball sucker as Pops is, with the players.

What a bunch of idiots. Appealing to their customers.

Does Steve need to be reminded that the NFL draft pulls better ratings than conference finals in the NBA?

Doesn't the NBA have the same, or very similar rule?

A lot stricter

Once Abdul raouf pulled his shite, the NBA put a rule in asap, and nipped it in the butt.

Maybe for the first part, but he's right about the 2nd part. Kind of hard to dispute that when the DoD was paying the NFL for displays of patriotism

He's not wrong. The government paid the NFL for displays of patriotism to drum up public approval for an unjust Iraq war.

This is a classic Goodell proposal.

We're taking a PR hit, so let's find a solution that just brushes any controversy out of the public eye. Even if you want to protest, we'd like that protest to be bland and not in a way anyone will notice.

It's also classically Goodell in that he exerted zero leadership as an issue was developing and now just reaches a reactionary, bureaucratic solution way after the fact.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Now, instead of kneeling for the anthem, the controversy will surround not even showing up for the anthem.

You can give the NFL the benefit of a doubt when it came to the issue if you really want to. The NBA and the NBAPA got to see the consequences of the NFLs inaction.

There's no reason to still be dealing with this shite in June now though.

Moron doesn't understand that Americans realized why all the sudden they wanted to focus on the anthem. If they wouldn't have focused any attention on the anthem, guess what? No more kneeling

IDK has he? In many walks of life and approaches, silence is consent so...not saying he opposes/supports the NBA rule but criticizing the institution of the new NFL rule when the NBA possesses basically the same rule comes off pretty hypocritical in my estimation
