A touchdown on the opening possession wins it

as fun as that sounds what do you do when both teams come out with “99 yards 2ft 11.99 inches”?

Tie goes to the home team.

Nobody will take it on their own 1. You're better off not having the ball than doing that.

Coach has to consider field conditions and how well his offense and defense are playing. If the other team wants it at their own 1 they can have it and we'll get a safety or force a 3 and out.

I think it should just be “if you have the lead and possession of the ball, you win the game”

They should make overtime a continuation of regulation.

The team possessing the ball at the end of regulation continues possessing the ball exactly where they are with field position, down and distance, etc. How they decide to give both teams an opportunity, if at all, is up to them.

It would cut out a lot of the end of game bullshite and wouldn't allow a team to gain a massive flip of field position based on a new coin flip.

This mish mash of nonsense all because the Saints beat Favre is stupid.

This all happened because dipshit Peter King cried like a girl that Brett Favre and Peyton Manning didn't get to touch the ball in overtime playoff games.

College rules are stupid. Go back to 15-minute overtimes that have sudden death. You lose the toss, tough. Go play defense. You had 60 minutes to avoid overtime. Once you get to overtime, you deserve what you get, win or lose.

I think it should be like college, but from the 50. Both teams getting equal possessions.

Same, though I’d amend it to where each team starts at their own 40, just due to how good NFL kicking has gotten.

Either bring back straight up sudden death or adopt the college system.
or maybe just be okay with an imperfect system. it shouldn't matter bc the winners aren't legitimate anyway. It's all rigged so it shouldn't matter how overtime is done.

Should be one extra 10 minute period and then come down to field goals is game is still tied.

Would be entertaining

In the old days yes. With the way offenses are now I could 100% see someone like say the chiefs bidding inside their own 10 just because you almost have to bet on mahommes doing something in that situation

CFB OT is one of the largest farces in sports.

It is ridiculous and it is not the same sport played for 60 minutes before.

College rules would probably result in high scores but it would be awesome.

Just start from the 50 so you need around ten yards to approach field goal range.

Kick field goals after the ten minutes - start at the 25 and start moving back 5 yards until one team misses and the other hits it. If they both miss, move forward 2.5 yards.

Ties are DUMB.

My problem with it is 10 minutes isn’t nearly enough time for this format.

yep, several OT games i saw were decided because of no time left for the second team to make a drive to score. all because first team used up 7-8 minutes on a field goal drive

if you are going to have both teams possess the ball then both teams need time so it needs go back to 15 minutes, or reset the clock so the second team gets a full 10 minute clock just like the first team did

its needs to be done fairly if you are going to do it

well they need to completely remove field goals if NFL teams adopt college rules for OT

so no kicking is allowed, TD and 2 point conversions only
