now proposing they can't hit him while throwing the ball

can't hit him high, not can't hit him at all. It's the same as last year. I don't know why everyone is freaking out so much

so they going to emphasize players hitting the qb low? So they can get fined for the Brady rule?

"We want to be much more clear on what can be a suspendable incident," Anderson said. "The emphasis is on head and neck hits and what a defenseless player is. And we will work hard that people understand what is a repeat offender and what is a flagrant foul."

It's still the same blow to the head or neck, not all hitting comletely

A blow to the head is already illegal, regardless if the QB is throwing or not.

Why make that distinction if it is the same rule

You sure that's addressing the qb in the act of throwing? That is already a penalty with hitting his head or neck. I'm pretty sure your quote is addressing defenseless receivers.

They aren't making a distinction. They're adding teeth to the rules that are already in place by imposing suspensions if that sort of conduct persists.

These aren't new rules; the only difference is that they will be points of emphasis and possible suspensions.

Bingo. It's just like pass interference rules. They were on the books, but they weren't really enforced as much until Ty Law was consistently giving receivers colonoscopies in the playoffs.

Might as well include a penalty if the QB doesn't see you coming and you hit him.

That quote is addressing defenseless players. Then there's a list of defenseless players which includes quarterbacks throwing. I don't know what the changes are to the defenseless players' list because I hadn't seen the previous list, but there's not much new to this report regarding hitting

I hate Goodell and Ray Andersen. They both suck. I'm sick and tired of having a new rule every month. It doesn't stop. It's gotten to a point I think Goodell and the owners are doing this to spite the players.

Bring Tagliabue back.

I do agree with this though. I wouldn't want some punks ripping Drew Brees' head off after an interception just because they can

Then Drew Brees shouldn't be allowed to try and make a tackle after an INT, no?
