I think the Bills ans Skins can suffer through the hard times because they remember the 90s. It's like they think a return to those days is just around the corner. They still view themselves as fans of a good franchise having a bad few years, not a bad franchise that was briefly good.

Recently, sure. But they have a storied history and won a Super Bowl during most of their fans' lifetime.

Bills

The Kelly/Levy years weren't THAT long ago, and the current downfall (aka, the Curse of Flutie) is only from the last decade or so.

Browns

This is a good one. While their history is awesome, they had their team stolen from them, and haven't done anything of note since Marty Schottenheimer left.

I thought of this b/c i woke up this morning thinking is been 21 years since my redskins have been to the big game.

That means almost all my childhood and my young adult years have been watching the redskins suck arse

This also means that your perspective is flawed because of your youth.

And the Skins were OK to good in quite a few of those non-SB years.

Not getting to the SB does not mean that a team sucks.

I wouldn't have 2 of those 3 in the top 5.

Detroit would be #1

This isn't a "What team has sucked the longest at any given point in time" thread.

This is a "what team has good fans despite the suckage every year."

Say what you want, but Detroit's fans quit going/caring. And New Orleans had trouble selling out before Sean Payton's era.

It does, compared to teams like Miami, who haven't done shite since the mid 80s

The Dolphins were perennial playoff contenders in the 90's, simply because of the right arm of the guy in my signature, even with a laundry list of subpar running backs and a bottom 15 defense.

Hell, they should have made the 1994 AFC championship. Pete Stoyanovich missed the game-winning field goal on the last play against San Diego in the divisional round.

Now, in the 2000's, yeah. They ain't done shite and I'm pretty tired of it.

You don't know what you're talking about. Detroit got a new stadium built during the time of suckiness and they sold out the Thanksgiving game for years despite the suckiness.

Saint's fans also stuck with the team during lean times.

No.
Fans that are disqualified from complaining for the next 50 years about how much suckage they have to endure:

So someone thinks the Vikings have had a solid history despite no SB wins, but the Skins' and Bills belong on the list? B/S.

Buffalo has 2 AFL Championships (old, but still count for something for depleted fanbases), 4 AFC titles, made the playoffs 8 times in the '90s...

yeah, it could be better, but that speaks more than SEVERAL other teams. And their future doesn't look any more dim than that of the Vikings or Skins.

This list HAS to be Cleveland at the top...and with the exception of Detroit or MAYBE New Orleans, I don't see any others that close.

They dominated during the pre-Super Bowl era, even with an NFL Title upset arguably bigger than Joe Namath and the Jets in SB III, but haven't done shite since the merger except have infamous losses at the Broncos.

Houston football fans. Just because it's been 2 different franchises shouldn't disqualify them, in fact I think it only strengthens the argument.

The Browns would have gone to the SB in 1980 but Brian Sipe threw a last minute pick in the end zone

Vikings do have a solid history. Sixth in all-time regular season winning percentage. Seventh in all-time overall winning percentage.

They have a better overall winning percentage than any team in the NFC North. Only the Cowboys and the 49ers (only if playoffs are included) have a better overall winning percentage in the NFC.

The Vikings have a been good franchise. Just grossly unlucky in the postseason. The team with the next highest all-time winning percentage that has never won a Super Bowl is the Brown at 14 (and followed by the Eagles at 17).

I know...I agreed. That's why I called B/S on them being a suffering fan base. Aside from winning the Super Bowl, they have been consistent contenders and winners.

My bad. I did not really read the post closely. I thought you were knighting for the Bills and possibly shutting down the Vikings.

No...both teams have had painful losses...extremely painful, but with 4 shots each IN the Super Bowl, many more teams could say worse...

Bengals (0-2)
Browns (no appearances)
Cardinals (0-1)
Eagles (0-2)
Falcons (0-1)
Jaguars (no appearances/lack history to be included)
Lions (no appearances)
Oilers/Titans (0-1)
Panthers (0-1/lack history to be included)
Seahawks (0-1)
Texans (no appearances/lack history to be included, however are a part of Houston's history)

So I can't argue that any of these have had BETTER histories than the Bills or Vikes. The Titans/Oilers had their glory days, but their shite was as bad as anyone's when they were in it. What do the Eagles have to pump them up despite success under Reid and SOME good seasons in sporatic years?

We would not have sold out our first home playoff game EVER in AZ, the year we went to the SB, except a local pool builder bought a few thousand tickets!!! Here is the LINK Its weird because that is the only time since 2005 that has happened and it was for our first playoff game.
