Huh? Their offense is like 3rd in the league. How are they not having success?
This why the success/failure thing is dumb. His offense is legit. Did damage v a stout Chiefs D w/ Vick having an awful night.
Kelly as a successful NFL head coach will depend on more things than his offense.

Exactly.
The offense is working.
The Eagles are terribly flawed on defense and a single offseason isn't going to fix that.

16 points vs the Chiefs... middle finger for sure

The offense gives the defense zero breaks. They score fast or turn it over quickly.

Well, until very recently, this would be considered a stupid-arse thread. Kelly's offense is actually pretty simple, and would be considered a quick fix with no high-end return. You plug in an athletic QB and run a whole lot of read-options and quick passes, you might make the playoffs if the defenses you play can't adjust enough to the different style from normal.
Your QB will have a lifespan about the same as an NFL RB, which is way shorter than what you get out of a classic drop-back guy. He gets worn down, and you have to find another. So, you lose the continuity of keeping the QB 10+ years, and all the experience that guy brings. Or else, you eliminate about 1/3 of the offense removing the run options for the QB... and then you have to become a more traditional offense to stay competitive.
That said, the continued rule changes to protect the QB (and offense in general) might help this style out. It will really suck to watch guys run and slide 20 times a game and nobody can hit them, but that's now available.
As an aside, Manziel would be a terrible fit in Kelly's offense. The key is rapid decisions and quick-hitting plays; Manziel wants to hold the ball and run around for 5 seconds every time he drops back. Sumlin runs "johnny ball", a totally different offense.
Re Kelly and the clock usage, it's dumb to keep exposing his defense. Even good defenses can't face all the extra possessions this offense would give up. It lets the other team break them down more.

I think this is a legitimate concern, yes.

Well, I don't think Kelly's ideal is to run his QB a whole lot. He likes for his QB to be able to break out of situations and run when he can, but his preference would really be a guy that can throw well and make smart decisions. Get rid of it quick and correctly. Vick is neither.

I agree. Vick is basically Manziel-esque.

I think the counter point would be that he thinks he needs to run up as many points as possible because he knows his D won't stop anyone regardless.

Jaws just said the offense worked and that he was impressed. And guess what? He blamed Michael Vick, saying he was big play or bust.

Week 4 Final
Broncos 52
Eagles 20
just a reminder that while the Eagles offense is doing okay, the rest of the team matters too.

Eagles and Chip Kelly week 7 humility update
The Eagles 3 wins so far this season come from teams who at this point have a combined record of 1-15.

Chip was one of 8 coaches to win his division. He lost tonight, but making the playoffs has to count for something.
