Lol. You saying intent doesn't matter?
I'm saying the disrespect is the same. Either the national anthem is to be revered or it isn't. Plenty of folks are wearing hats, talking, eating, etc. during the anthem, and most of the stadium thinks LSU football is a valid replacement for American soldiers.
It's all disrespectful. The kneeling is too. If you have a problem with the reason for the kneeling, address that stupitidy. Don't hide behind the "disrespect" when it happens all the damn time.

Clay Travis has an interesting idea:
quote:
I'm solving the NFL Anthem issue in one tweet. NFL and owners: we agree to stop testing for marijuana because we believe arrests & criminalization of weed discriminates against minority communities. Players: we agree to stand for the anthem. Boom, let's all play football.

If one is told his hat wearing is disrespectful, then continues to do so, they have entered the same “playing field” as the kneelers
If one does so out of ignorance, while still disrespectful, it isn’t the same level as knowingly doing so
But I know you already know that......

Goodell deserves another 100 Million $ raise ……...
This is just more of Goodell's incompetence.
A competent comissioner would have a working relationship with players and quickly and quietly solved things with minimal backlash. Goodell has presided over more than a year of spinning wheels while backlash mounts from both sides.
Also, the next time Roger Goodell addresses an issue early to head off a problem will be the first time.

I'm not saying they're all the same, but they're all disrespectful. You can't argue otherwise.
Like I said, I find it hypocritical to criticize the NFL for their disrespect while seeing nothing wrong with the typical TS anthem.
ETA - the hat stuff is whatever. Replacing brave with Tigers is blatantly disrespectful to the anthem. People don't give it much thought, but it's pretty bad.
However, start a thread on the Rant and see how many people refuse to stop.

The amazing part of all of this was that it was dying out before Trump brought it up again, then it became frick Trump instead of the original meaning. Total shitshow from all sides.

The NFL National Anthem Debate is alive and well again - can’t believe it! Isn’t it in contract that players must stand at attention, hand on heart? The $40,000,000 Commissioner must now make a stand. First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!
Latest Trump tweet. He’s not going to stop talking about it. It’s a huge talking point for his fan base.

It boggles my mind that this is such a giant, protracted issue in the mind of so many people.
Trump is just catering to that, and Goodell's inability to get finality means people like me, who are just sick of this, have to live with more.

Same guy who thought that the USFL should be playing at the same time as the NFL in the fall

Why is this so fricking hard to solve on the NFL’s part. This shite has been a story for way to long and there is a very simple solution to the “problem”.
You don’t need the teams on the field to play the anthem. Play it right before the teams take the field. Problem solved. Hell, even LSU does it this way

I guess start fining them. The NFL is fricked. It’s not a good enough product anymore for regular working class people to tolerate some fricking crybabies who make a jillion dollars a year to play a game one time a week disrespect the country that affords them that opportunity. Not to mention the sheer amount of pure scumbags that would be starving under a bridge or in prison if it weren’t for the NFL. It’s just not a good enough product anymore. If there were an actual issue to protest, fine. But there isn’t. Mike Brown was scum. The Baton Rouge Guy was scum. Trayvon was scum. Whites are shot by police far more frequently than blacks. The difference is that most whites don’t give a shite about some dead criminal. The 13% needs to do some housekeeping before anyone gets taken seriously on that side of the argument

I’m not being naive about the issue, but maybe like millions of people he’s truly disgusted by the kneeling. Screw the talking points.
