That's your solution? Fire them if they don't stand for the anthem?

What is your job? If you defiantly and repeatedly break a rule put forth by your company/boss, how long do you think you will keep your job?

Well it seems you've thoroughly thought this through.

A) What rule have they broken?
B) How does the CBA affect your decision?
C) How are you going to handle contracts and guaranteed money of the fired players?
D) How are you going to handle the backlash of other NFL players?

The NFL has rules about the protocol during the national anthem. In fact, they just recently tried to clarify those rules but seem to be backing down now.

How do they handle the contracts and guaranteed money of any other player that breaks league rules and gets suspended?

Backlash from the other players? How about the back lash from the fans that pay for tickets, parking, concessions, merchandise, etc? No fans, no multi-million dollar contracts.

Mike Brown and Alton Sterling aren't worth it. Clean shoots. Get off your knees and deal with it.

When Brees is done I'm done with the NFL.

What are those rules and where are they located?

They don't pay them for that temporary amount of time. The contract isn't voided and doesn't just go away. Difference between your scenario is those penalties are spelled out in writing. They have been negotiated and agreed to.

Backlash from the other players?
That was the question. How are you going to handle player backlash when you start firing players for kneeling during the anthem? You going to answer it?

Noticed you skipped the CBA question. You want to weigh in on that one?

The attention whore players will just find a new way to protest their phantom cause.

The owners just need to realize that they are never going to appease Trump. While it's a strategy that rarely works, in this case, they should have just buried their heads in the sand like ostriches. And behind closed doors ask their broadcast partners to not focus on the issue much in pregame or in writing.

It had honestly stopped being an issue by the end of the year. Each revision to the rules opens up a news cycle.

On the other hand, what Trump is doing is so obvious that it has become repetitive. Also the issue has been litigated so much in the court of public opinion that I doubt it will actually move the needle much for anyone beyond this point (Trump/the players/the owners/etc).

Best thing IMO is to have the players in the locker room for the anthem, and tell the networks to STFU about the kneeling. It's hurting their bottom line too.

Why TF is the NFL letting these NFLPA thugs dictate shite to them? If they followed NFL Constitutional procedure, the PA has zero argument that’s how professional sports leagues work they can tell Dee Smith to eff off with that bullshite.

Because they don’t have a league without the players

Not true at all. These rules are collectively bargained and they could certainly argue the NFLs power to do this

Omg the players! Great Scott! Tough shite there’s a CBA and league bylaws and these players are subject to that until the end of the decade, deal with it.

Just play the National Athem before those spoiled brats take the field.

...and they will bitch because it removes their chance to protest while on the job.

Yep.

And if that's the hill the NFLPA wants to die on, the owners can take major financial concessions in return.

The NFL National Anthem Debate is alive and well again - can’t believe it! Isn’t it in contract that players must stand at attention, hand on heart? The $40,000,000 Commissioner must now make a stand. First time kneeling, out for game. Second time kneeling, out for season/no pay!

Yea honestly at this point Trump just cones off as purely whining now. He can't have his way now he cries about it on Twitter. It just seems childish.

If you don't like it and you dislike the NFL cuz or this whole issue. That is fine. Just stop watching and move on with life. Of all of his duties as president, is this really one of the most pressing.

It's a good way of baiting the left into behavior that repels moderates. But it's well past the point of diminishing returns now.

Easy fix- let them kneel. Don’t allow cameras to show them, though

This is such a dumb idea, yet it has all upvotes and no downvotes. The MSB showing it's intelligence.

What happens when fans start taking videos of the players and the TV stations now have to defend themselves for censoring protests? You create an even bigger clusterfrick and it’s no longer an NFL vs NFLPA. You just added a third party. In fact, this is actually the dumbest idea I’ve seen as it actively makes things significantly worse.
