there's really no such thing as a good slavery or good Nazi analogy

It just makes people who hear you think you are a dumb-arse with no perspective

Has anyone told him he doesn't HAVE to play football? He's got a college degree (I think), he can go work HR for Sears or some shite. I'm sure that's a much less slave-like existence than being one of the top-paid RBs in the league.

Once this whole think irons out, the NFL should ban anyone in the league from having a twitter account. As entertaining it is for some people, it's a constant reminder of how stupid the vast majority of it's players and personel are.

But right now it will be the gift that keeps on giving for the owners and their relative PR position.

I'm sure we will have several more gold nuggets of wisdom before the lockout ends.

Heck the players haven't even felt any pain yet. Once the pain hits, there will be plenty of rumblings on twitter.

please entertain me on how college athletics is like slavery. Between the free housing, tuition, food, tutors, clothes, travel, and for the fortunate training to play sports at the next level.

College football player =/= slaves

i think just the fact that you're bring compensated in some fashion to play a game you love should suffice

I dont recall slaves really loving working in the fields all day and getting the shite beat out of them.

and the NFL comparison is even more ridiculous.

the only thing that is "like" slavery is actual fricking slavery

The stupidity of the college argument is that only 200+ players go to the NFL out of over 10,000+ collegiate players. So at least the 9,800 that don't make the NFL, end up with an education and without $50,000 to $250,000 in student loans.

Yeah, they are workin in the fields.

Sure Adrian, sure.

So he CHOOSES to be a slave?

Interesting career choice by him. He can't hate it THAT much if he chose to be a slave.

Anyone here that wouldn't sign up for NFL slavery?

Where is the dotted line, I wish to sign.

At 5'8" 170 lbs, i would probably be broken in two after a few big hits , still a weeks salary would help me through the pain

You would still get your full 1 year rookie compensation of $300,000.

College players have their education paid for so that statement would still be asinine.

Slaves got room and board.

OK, in all seriousness:

LINK

quote:

“I have to totally disagree with Adrian Peterson’s comparison to this situation being Modern day slavery. . . false,” Packers running back Ryan Grant wrote on Twitter. “Their is unfortunately actually still slavery existing in our world.. Literal modern day slavery.. That was a very misinformed statement. I understand what point he was trying to make.. I just feel like he should have been advised a little differently.”

Peterson will be given the chance to clarify his comments, and we’re sure he’ll put it into better context. For now, it looks like another comment too add to the mix from players and owners that lacks perspective.

Not a $50,000 to $250,000 education.

And no air conditioning and I imagine they did not get 3 square meals a day.
