To be fair, no one back then had air conditioning.

But the slaves got to sing more than AP does today.

Peterson is an absolute idiot if he tweeted that stuff. I mean he loses so much ground to make the slavery comparison. Use your head dumbass.

Wealthy NFL players live in a false world. Peterson is an idiot for posting this.

I'd be a NFL "Slave" anyday. I love it when athletes post on twitter. Good fun.

I'm getting really sick of black people envoking the image of slavery. They call each other "uncle toms" "house n*****" "N*****" it's really inappropriate and not one black person in America today was alive to work a cotton gin in the 19th centruy. Repeatedly coming back to this era in history, that you know NOTHING about, is really disgusting and disrespectful to their ancestors who actually experienced the tragedy.

You can take the idiots out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the idiots.*

*This statement is not specific to Adrian Peterson as I have no idea what type of environment he grew up in in Greenville, Texas.

You guys are all off base. Compared to what OU used to pay Adrian, his NFL salary probably does feel like the wages of a slave.

NFL = Slavery

At first glance, I thought this was a stupid statement. But then I looked at the dictionary. Webster's says:
quote:

Definition of SLAVERY
1: drudgery, toil
2: submission to a dominating influence
3a : the state of a person who is a chattel of another b : the practice of slaveholding

If you take his comment as using the second definition of slavery above, it makes more sense, especially given the current labor situation. If he meant submission, then maybe he should have given the statement more context.

I'm on the side of the players on this one, these guys deserve lifelong healthcare and 50% of what they do. However, to compare years of beatings, starvation, murder and rape to being adored by people, making millions of dollars, getting free shite all the time, and banging any chick you want is down right backwoods RETARDED. Adrian please let people with a brain Like Brady, Brees, and Manning speak on your behalf and you just keep fricking white women.

True. I'm sure they can't afford private coverage with the millions they earn. The players and their association keep making themselves look bad in all of this. Perhaps, they should just shut up and work out a deal behind closed doors.

please entertain me on how college athletics is like slavery. Between the free housing, tuition, food, tutors, clothes, travel, and for the fortunate training to play sports at the next level.

I was commenting more on your hyperbole... I don't think the NCAA should be compared to slavery, but the players sure as frick are getting screwed--in a really shameful way. I'm shocked that anyone can actually argue otherwise (though few outside the NCAA and their panderers actually do... do yourself a favor and google/scholar some articles on the topic. Lawyers/economists and other members of the academy have written tons of articles arguing against the practice).
