What do you expect When the ULL fans start calling it the best job in the country?
It’s not a P5, but at the same time, let’s not sell the job short.

Tiger fan and Yankee fan, the epitome of a band wagoner. Please just refrain from this thread as a poster so the rest of us can keep it on task.

I'd prefer for this to not get into a pissing match. Our fans will over rate the quality of this job and other people here will undersell it big time. Nobody is going to change the others mind.
The fact is the new coach will be getting a top-10 facility to recruit to in an extremely talent rich region in the country. It will be very highly coveted.

From top to bottom this is a top 25 job in college baseball
Well there are 14 sec schools it’s not better than.
You telling me ULL would be in the next 11? Lol
Louisville
FSU
Texas
UCLA
Stanford
AZ state
Unc
Arizona
Oregon state
USC
Tcu
Texas tech
Baylor
Virgina
Georgia tech
Miami
Clemson
Nc state
Ok I’m not even trying yet. 32, and I don’t know shite about big 10 baseball.
Mid majors
Houston
Rice
CSF
ECU
LBSU
UC Irvine
ULL is top 40 at best, and more likely top 50

I’m open to debate and conversation but I stand by my argument. Most people on this board have never closely followed baseball outside of LSU or the SEC so I understand why many can easiliy dismiss my claim

Is this really a time to pull out your know-it-all shitty human being bit?
Posted on 7/10/19 at 6:09 pm to BatonrougeCajun
Just looking, the coach at Houston has a base salary of $300k.
Cliff Godwin at ECU makes $375k base
Robe got an extension of $125k base back in 15’.
There is a drastic difference there in program investment.

ULL is a damn fine baseball head coaching job to have. That's really all that matters. People can sit here and argue top 10, top 25, top 50 or whatever. It's all based on opinion. The fact still remains that ULL is a better place to coach college baseball than the majority of the rest of the country.

There are about probably less than 30-40 programs who give a shite about baseball and that’s stretching it.
That number has grown rapidly, especially in the P5 conferences where some of the schools are looking for ways to spend the tv money football brings in.
It's why I don't see someone like Gautreau taking the job. After seeing SEC assistants go straight to being SEC head coaches and have success, like Butch Thompson and to a lesser extent Tony Vitello, I think Gautreau waits for a P5 job to open up.
It's not a slight on ULL, it's just that the money is getting ridiculous.
As has been said a million times, Deggs looks like the natural fit. After that, I don't know. Justin Hill wasn't a bad suggestion. I'm not sold on the current guy at Northwestern State yet, but they do have a knack for hiring good coaches there. I wonder how far geographically they're willing to cast the net.

He also had about $60,000 added each year to that before all other bonuses. The low salary is partially a product of Robichaux not demanding more. Our softball coach makes around $200,000 per year.

Could take the Tulane job after next season

Every coach has bonuses hendo
Posted on 7/10/19 at 6:16 pm to Lester Earl
The school just renovated the stadium at a cost of over $16 million, they’ll have no problem investing in a coach to match. Robichaux never fought hard for raises, IIRC. He could’ve named his price in 2014.

Exactly, Robe didn’t ask for more. If we are judging best programs just by what the head coach makes then yeah ULL is no where near the top.
Even if you disagree no one has listed our 25 schools with a better infrastructure in place for college baseball

After seeing the type of administrative support State gets, do you think he might have reservations about returning to Tulane? Or at least want certain assurances?
I'm asking because I don't know how the current administration at Tulane looks at athletics.

Cliff Godwin has a $375 base salary that ascends by $10k each year for the next 5, and has another $230k in potential bonuses
Robichaux didn’t ask for more? Lol come on guys with that shite

Justin Hill
Would be an interesting hire, considering Robe came from McNeese.
I also think Hill would be a bit of a letdown considering Deggs and Riser are out there. Sam Houston and SELA have been in the Top 3 in the final Southland standings for the last 4 years. As impressed as I've been with Hill, he's the 3rd man in that race.

I'm not talking performance bonuses. I'm talking guaranteed money every year, in addition to money being paid into an annuity.
Also:
With a new clubhouse being funded right now. Those facilities are better than almost every school you listed, plus the school has a history of pulling high level recruits from Texas to Florida. It's a great job that you're underselling just to be a dick online. Not really interested in getting into an argument so I'll end it here.

You just ignored the other part of my post but ok
Obviously the money is there, and plenty of programs would’ve been happy to pluck Robichaux after the 2013-16 run but he didn’t even use it to leverage a big raise.
But, per usual- you’re the expert here so I’ll defer to you.
