So right in the middle of the national championship run
Life is full of tough choices. I would’ve liked to see it pushed maybe a week back but I think this ultimately impacts so few players that component isn’t a huge deal.

Boosters pooling money to pay players.

They should start the window a week after the national championship game, have it run for two weeks, and then move Signing Day for HS recruits back 3 weeks from the end of the portal window. Something like
Jan 26: Portal window starts
Feb 9: Portal window closes
Mar 2: National Signing Day
It makes no sense for the window not only to open, but to run completely, in the middle of the playoffs. Imagine NFL free agents making these calls in late January. Just asinine.
Even starting it a week after the playoffs is kind of asinine IMO, but the college schedule being year-round like it is, they don’t have much choice. But they can choose not to put it in the middle of the damn playoffs

It’s unrestricted pay for play. That’s not what NIL is designed for.

These are at least technically college kids so the academic calendar matters.

Will probably be challenged in court. Why should the players be limited to only a 15 day window?
Because a bunch of overpaid NCAA bureaucrats in boring Indianapolis who did absolutely nothing while the Transfer Portal process ran wild the past couple of years are now trying to justify their salaries and jobs.
A little too late, Clowns. 80% of those jobs should be eliminated and their share for “Administration Fees” that they take off the top from the NCAA Basketball Tournament, etc, should be redistributed back to Universities and Players.

How exactly do you believe a Collective works?

How exactly do you think the clearing house that was instituted as part of the House Settlement works?
Or you didn’t know about that?

I think the issue needs to be forced one way or another. It really is BS for playoff teams and they're already the least likely to be "playing school."
I'd add that when normal students transfer it's a lot more slow & arduous process compared to student athletes. The athlete needs to choose his own priorities and that may include missing out on a semester of classes. Or, maybe they enroll in B terms instead of full semester classes. Or maymester/summer etc. If they care about academics at all they should already be considering that when they transfer.
No idea how this fits into academic eligibility rules though or if it would be ripe for a different form of abuse

This.
They have to be enrolled to participate in winter/spring workouts and spring practice. If they aren't able to transfer until late-January/mid-February, that may be too late to enroll for the spring semester. I think that's the biggest reason for the timing.

So you don’t know what you are talking about and want to change the subject to something else you don’t understand.
No thank you.

There’s no more pay for play (for now at least)
You didn’t know that

Imagine being that a-hole that abandons your team right before the championship game because some other school offered you a shite load of money.
Would be even crazier if it was an upcoming opponent in the playoffs trying to change the outcome of the game in their favor

I think after NSD is the perfect place for it. That day has lost its relevance in this new age.
Call it National Transfer Week or whatever.

Lol that’s literally what the Collectives are but it’s okay, you don’t know how to admit you are wrong so we don’t need to continue this conversation.

You can’t use the collective anymore to pay players with a “valid business purpose” and it has to be at market value as approved by the new clearinghouse as of the House settlement dumbass.
