I’m sure they will be met with open arms for public funding.
Well obviously they are pining for such backslash, probably dangle ridiculous demands, lose support.... Viva Las Vegas!

The Metroplex should tell them to piss off.

But if Mavs did move that leaves a hole in big TV market. What a mess down there.
League could charge an insanely high expansion team fee for a market of Dallas’ size. When was the last time one of the big 4 leagues offered up the opportunity for an expansion team in a top 5 media market?

That conspiracy to trade Luka and tank the org for a new arena doesn't look that crazy
Genuine question, how does tanking the organization help get a new arena?

Great, another franchise holding a city hostage.
Call their bluff. The Mavs aren't going anywhere.

No new stadium until the old one is paid off, unless the franchise pays the balance.

They want a new arena but they don’t want it in Dallas. See Sonics to OKC.

I thought American Airlines was pretty nice when I was last there but it’s been a few years. I guess that isn’t really relevant though
It was damn nice when LSU's women won it all there 2 years ago.

It is nice. I go for concerts, Mavs and Stars. The train stops right at the stadium, too, and it drops me off where I have only a ten minute drive from home.

I bet the life span of a professional sports venue would miraculously be a lot longer than 30 years if the multi billion dollar businesses occupying them had to build it themselves.
They are like spoiled wives who demand a brand new car every 4-5 years.
People are generally irresponsible if allowed to be.

They finally have the area around the AAC built up and still growing. Lots of young professionals moving down there.
Its stupid but i guess the Stars will still use it. The Mavs practice site is across the interstate and would be a cool spot to build around but these aholes want to build it in Irving for some reason. Why did Cuban have to sell to these asshats? He even took a discount and could have gotten way more on the open market.

The AAC is a nice facility. It’s a shame these teams are always looking for the next best thing and expecting local government/citizens to pay for it.

That W parking podium is awful.

This just isn’t true

quote:It doesn't, at least not in Dallas. The team sucking means that there would be even less public support or political willpower to spend a massive amount of taxpayer money on a new arena, especially with most people thinking the current arena is still very nice.
Genuine question, how does tanking the organization help get a new arena?
So when the team owners demand a new arena and the city says no, then they have a reason to go to the other NBA owners to get permission to relocate.
Supposedly the new owners want a complex with a casino resort alongside a new arena, and that's not happening in Dallas unless Texas changes their mind about legalizing gambling in the state. If they can't get it in Texas, then hello Vegas.

Which is never going to happen no matter how many times this board repeats it.

It is. This has to be posturing to eventually move the team.
Or to pass gambling laws in Texas

And fans will still fill it up. Professional sports need to die. Outrageous contract for players all while they expect the public to pay outrageous tickets prices and parking but that’s not enough let’s make citizens pay for the arenas.
