CHSNI is hands down the best program there besides Calvary. Four quarterfinal appearances since 2006, and two Semis. And two of those came in 3A. Brent Indest of Carencro, Crowley, Abbeville, etc. fame is the coach this year.
I'll chalk up that mistake to me being unfamiliar with them due to their time in 3A.
The four programs I listed have been constant winners in 2A for a while now, even if Cavalry is the only one which really threatened for a state title.

The public schools won't get reapectfully recognized as state champions
This process is stupid to me to, but do you think the team and fans that win the public school championship won't recognize their championship or give a rats arse what anybody else thinks?

This is what is so ridiculous about this whole thing. In every other state, public and private is split in order to protect to the private schools from getting killed. Because almost all parents like to send their kids to school for free instead of paying $10,000+ for it. However, in our state, the public schools became so bad, parents were forced to send their kids to private schools. So, what happens, the public schools that lost the kids due to their own ineptitude, complain about it being unfair. Truly remarkable
That's one side of the argument.
If public and private had the exact same rules then things would be fair. Private schools did NOT want to play by the rules. They want an unfair advantage. LHSAA needs to end the recruiting efforts of private schools. Let colleges do this not high schools.

nice logic
you're saying "we don't want to have the best football program possible, so let's restrict john curtis's efforts to do so"
i want to see the best football possible. i don't care about the 1950s concept of attendance zones and playing with just the kids in your neighborhood
you know what happens to the teams that follow every LHSAA rule? they lose

So since I grew up in Metairie I should have had to go to bonnabel or grace king instead of brother Martin?

You can tell that most people that hate the private schools are from sparsely populated areas and have zero clue how things work in a metro area.

The whole thing is beyond stupid.
The teams regular season schedule is the same. They play against teams in their usual district and all that. Then when its playoff time, private schools play against completelty different teams. So not only do you not get a legit state champ, the regular season means nothing as well.
Just let JC, Evangel, Parkview, Calvary Baptist, etc(the "football schools") play up in 5A for football. Problem solved.

True, that's where I grew up. We had private schools in my district.
I lived in Shreveport for four years. Had three good friends that had sons who played at Evangel during their 5A dominate days. They told me plenty of recruiting stories that were just ridiculous.
Private and Public should have the exact same rules. If not I'm ok with the split.

So you punish all private schools for the actions of a few?

The 5A NOLA private schools do not want to lose to Curtis. It will hurt their enrollment.

No, same rules for everyone. That's what we have now.
Just like we do for college teams and NFL teams. We have high schools that act like the New York Yankees and they buy championships. Glad the LHSAA put a stop to this crap.

Losing to Curtis would hurt Jesuit, St. Aug, Brother Martin, etc's enrollment?
No way

I'm not willing to limit it to Louisiana high school football. This is some all encompassing dumbassery.

So instead of making kids work hard to earn championships, lets just make it easier for them and give everyone a trophy

I have spoken to a principal of one of the schools that you mentioned and he told me directly that playing Curtis every year and losing to them would "hurt our numbers." Would they lose a significant number of students? No. Little White Johnny from Old Metairie will always go to one of those schools. Would they lose some athletes? Yes.
