This is a joke. If I read the link correctly every private school will make the playoffs minus 1 school.
Yep, this leads to no team being a true champion. For example, WM or Acadiana wins 5a, and St.AUg or CHS wins division 1, who is the real champion?

LHSAA is like the wwe now with champions.

There's the "WWE Champion" and the "World Heavyweight Champion".

No true champ

This is what is so ridiculous about this whole thing. In every other state, public and private is split in order to protect to the private schools from getting killed. Because almost all parents like to send their kids to school for free instead of paying $10,000+ for it. However, in our state, the public schools became so bad, parents were forced to send their kids to private schools. So, what happens, the public schools that lost the kids due to their own ineptitude, complain about it being unfair. Truly remarkable

*facepalm*

That 1A non-select classification is a fricking disgrace.

27 teams for 32 spots, meaning everyone makes the playoffs and the top 5 teams get byes to the 2nd round.

Division one has 6 teams getting "byes" past the first round while they have 2 play in games.

I'm also looking at where my alma mater falls...

They're in Division III Select, meaning that they make the playoffs no matter what. It's just a question as to whether they can beat Calvary, Newman, Riverside, and/or Aquinas to compete for a "state title".

I'd consider a win over Calvary to be worth a "state title", but any team who won it all without beating them would be a paper champion IMHO.

Private school state champions will not be legit and are a freaking joke.

Any team that gets through Rummel, St. Aug, St. Paul's, and Catholic ain't no joke.

The split is really just about Curtis and Evangel. No body wants to play them not just the public schools.

CHSNI is hands down the best program there besides Calvary. Four quarterfinal appearances since 2006, and two Semis. And two of those came in 3A. Brent Indest of Carencro, Crowley, Abbeville, etc. fame is the coach this year.

Beating a team that loses in the first round every year ain't no joke.
