That's the craziest part about all of this. I heard that the Chinese market makes up 10% of the NBA revenue.

Apparently that 10% ain’t distributed evenly.
What do you think the chances are that the guy who lost $1m was someone like Rondo who has been near the vet minimum recently but has long relationships with sponsors?

Ask me in 20 years then.
These assholes are more concerned for the payouts they missed today than anything they miss in the future.

You think adam silver cares about 10% of league revenue now, or possibly 1/3rd+ in like maybe 20 years?

quote:
Silver pushed back, reminding the players that the league never doled out discipline when they publicly criticized President Donald Trump. Morey was exercising the same liberty when he challenged China. Regardless of the financial fallout of one versus the other, that's not what should matter.
quote:
It's always a responsibility with me as far as players, a protection for the players," James said on Monday. "That's always [on my mind]. I never speak for just me, things that just benefit me. I try to be educated as much as I can and speak from a pure heart of how can I protect not only me, but protect the players as well in that situation."

Dogshit article by one of Lebron’s mouthpieces at espn trying to justify his ridiculous comments.

Sure he does.
Adam also wasn't dumb enough to publicly state, and then reiterate like 3 more times, that he's mad at Morey because the tweet was financially damaging.

And i wasnt speaking to just individual players, obviously

I think the context of this article is about the players and specifically Lebron's thoughts and feelings on the backlash. How they were effected financially.
I don't think it's a crazy thing to say that most, if not all, players don't really give a shite about the league's finances 20 years from now.
Execs? Sure they care a little. Players? Nah.
It just baffles me that LeBron basically said "Morey didn't consider the financial impact on me, a (near) billionaire, and all of my co-workers who have minimum 7 figures of guaranteed income this year."

And much like a lot of stuff recently, I don’t think LeBron realizes how this will backfire.
Posted on 10/15/19 at 10:37 pm to JohnnyKilroy
Some guys like Rondo and Dudley probably don’t give a shite about the league 20 months from now because they are in danger of falling off the roster.

LeBron makes his money by being the highest profile player in the world and being very popular.
An image built over the course of a 15+ year career can get flushed down the toilet in no time if handled badly
Edit - for a decent comparison, use Tiger. After his marriage broke up due to a string of affairs, he lost a ton of endorsements and ended up being on the outs for several years.
He is now back and still an all time great but his image took a major hit from that and it affected his money as a result.

This was on Monday October 7th. Pretty sure the story was rolling hot and heavy well before they took off.

Yea.
Probably not true, but Rondo comes off as the type that if the league folded the day after he retired and everyone was out of a job he'd just be like "damn that sucks for you guys.....sorry?"
