Nets pursuing Josh Smith

The Brooklyn Nets are aggressively pursuing a trade for Atlanta Hawks star forward Josh Smith, league sources told ESPN.
The two teams are engaged in discussions, but one source said while "there has been lots of talk, nothing is close yet."

As the NBA's Feb. 21 trade deadline nears, Brooklyn is proving to be one of the most active teams in the league. As reported by ESPN.com on Friday, sources said the Nets also are talking with the Charlotte Bobcats about a Kris Humphries-for-Ben Gordon trade.
The Nets are willing to give up Humphries and second-year shooting guard MarShon Brooks for Smith. But it almost certainly will take more than a Humphries-Brooks combination to pry Smith away from Atlanta, and one source said the Hawks want Brooklyn's first-round pick.

The hawks better get more than Kardashian's boy and that bench player. I don't like this deal at all. There needs to be a 3rd team involved. And no dwight howard

The nets are clueless. Why the hell would they want Josh Smith? How does that move help them?

Please, just move Josh Smith for something before he walks away for nothing in the off-season. The dude wants max money but he's not even worth it. Ferry needs to trade him, and get AT LEAST a lottery draft pick in return and a REAL center. If we can get a REAL center, we can build the team around Horford, Teague and John Jenkins. Horford can move back to the 4 which was his natural position, and he could even slide in and play some 5 if we need him to. The Hawks have the shooters they need, and now they just need the presence on the boards because Josh Smith is to fricking retarded to take advantage of one of his best attributes (rebounding) and wants to shoot long 2's and 3's instead.

Would you take an injured Anderson Varejao and one of the Cavs' thousand draft picks?

I think if the put Brook Lopez in the discussion Atlanta would do it. Maybe add their first round pick or MarShon Brooks

Have you seen them play? they need to get faster and more athletic that is their #1 problem and Josh Smith would be a good solution.

It would take all three of these guys for us to move Smith to Brooklyn...
I don't think I would take Varajeo at this point in time. However, the draft picks are very intriguing.

Atlanta would never make this deal unless the Nets were willing to part with Brook Lopez, and if the Nets do that, they would be the biggest joke in the NBA.
