The point of all this is... Aren't you starting to see how being gay is not really equivalent to being black, or being female? You have to understand that by now, or you're just stubborn or stupid.

I feel the same way unless you can convince me sexuality is a conscious decision

For most of us there's just no appeal to sleeping with someone of the same sex

Not really. What is the significance?

try this line out on your next prospective girlfriend and ask her to explain it to you

So you agree, it is unnatural.

Anyway, we have gotten off point. Coach believes based on his religious convictions that the homosexual lifestyle is a sin and spoke out against legislation. Not a big deal that he did it whether you agree or disagree with his opinion.

Will do, just don't tell my wife.

Do you actually declare your sexual preference to girls you are interested in?

I'm married as well

As you know if you are in a relationship long enough you'll talk about everything - when she asked what I thought about gays etc I answered that I was not gay or bisexual but did not judge people who are

I think people will learn more about the biology and genetics of sexuality over time. My speculation is that there will be shown to be genetic predispositions to being gay, straight, or bisexual.

So declaring your sexual preference wasn't very significant, right?

FWIW- I'm a Christian and believe having sex with someone of the same gender is a sin. So are a lot of other things that I do. I don't discriminate against people that have sex with others of the same gender and don't think they should be discriminated against. I don't think the state should be in the marriage business in the first place, but if they are then I don't have a problem with the state allowing gay people to marry each other.

Maybe. We aren't there yet and you could very easily be wrong, so for the sake of current debate, let's not act like this is a foregone or even likely conclusion. There is nothing to base that on at the moment.

wrong

It is an easy declaration for someone who is straight - but being called gay or bisexual has negative connotations in our society and tends to offend people's sense of masculinity/self esteem.

Also, for a woman if their partner were to say they were bisexual the first thing they probably start wondering is if their BF is really gay but trying to blend in because of societal pressure or expectations.

except for your experience and the experience of most people

neither one of us ever had to decide to be straight - it was just a natural part of our development to be attracted to women

So basically we agree that he said something that pissed off his bosses and that if any one of us said something publicly that pissed off our bosses, we could lose our jobs, so this guy might lose his job too, and that them's the breaks.

Blows my mind that in 2012 people can still be vehemently anti-gay. Most mind-boggling is the idea that sexual orientation shouldn't be protected against discrimination like other minority groups. This makes no sense.

LINK

gay kids in high schools are bullied ruthlessly across the country. I know a kid who got his car keyed "****" (censored but its 6 letters and begins with F) and was beaten up more than a few times. It's disgusting the treatment some of these kids receive. Look at the suicide rate for gay teens. It's really saddening.

To the "can't get pregnant guy" for my sanity's sake I hope you're a troll. If you're not please turn off your computer and never post again. By that logic, should couples who don't plan on having children not be able to be married? What about people who are sterile, by your interpretation then they shouldn't have rights either.

To the "it's a choice" crowd, are you telling me everybody is born straight? Could you blow a guy right now and enjoy it? No, that sounds disgusting to you right? So you couldn't choose to be gay right now if you wanted? See where I'm going with this?

This is the goddamn USA people. This country is based on individual freedoms and the right to not have other people or the government interfere in your private life. If you don't approve of gay marriage for religious reasons, that's cool, then don't have your pastor or whatever marry them. Restricting them from being legally recognized married couples from a governmental standpoint seems to violate the separation of church and state to me. Get this big government crap out of here and let people live their lives in their own home.

Pretty much every argument about gay marriage boils down to "it's gross" but I bet some people posting in this thread are into feet or some other weird shite and nobody gives you crap about it.

Everything Coach Brown said with respect to homosexuality I agree with. Great to see someone stand-up and speak-out with conviction, courage, and clarity on this.

Homosexuality is sexual perversion. It is unnatural, unhealthy, and ungodly. Nothing hateful to say as much. Just simple Biblical truth.

I do think they are the same.

I think its stupid that if a KKK member kills some random black guy, its somehow worse than if a random white guy kills another random white guy.

nobody is crucifying anybody. But he may be fired for making his employer look bad, and that's fair.
