Great move for Philly giving up very little

The Utah Jazz are finalizing a trade to send C Kelly Olynyk and guard Ochai Agbaji to the Toronto Raptors for Kira Lewis, Otto Porter and a 2024 first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

According to the thread in the Pelicans forum, that first is the least favorable of OKC, Clip Show, Rockets, and Jazz.

So it is going to be a late 20s pick as of now given where OKC and the Clip Show are in the standings.

I actually like the move for Toronto. Get Olynk and a prospect for nothing of value in return outside of that late first rounder

Dallas is going to love Gafford. He has some talent, could see him being a double double 15-10 type guy there. He’s electric off the bench.

Oklahoma City is closing in on a trade to acquire Gordon Hayward from Charlotte, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn)
The Oklahoma City Thunder are finalizing a trade to send G Tre Mann and F Davis Bertans to the Charlotte Hornets for Gordon Hayward, sources tell ESPN.

Yossi Gozlan (@YossiGozlan)
Aleksej Pokusevski being added to the deal makes the money work.

Gordon Hayward could still get some of his trade bonus in this 3 for 1 framework.

The Hornets need to cut a player or two before making this deal or expand it to resolve their roster crunch.

——

The cost of OKC’s draft night trade to move up from #12 to #10 to draft Cason Wallace was to take on Davis Bertans’ contract.. without giving up any draft picks.

Thunder just flipped that contract to trade for Gordon Hayward.. without giving up any draft picks.

Thunder GM doing work for quite a while now. Should have stuck with Lively Jr at 12 though. Dude has been huge for Dallas. One of the best rookies in a very nice rookie class.

?? Not when he had rookie Chet coming healthy. It was a good trade for both teams.

The question is when does Presti use all his picks over the next 4 years. He can’t fit them all on roster if drafted so will meed to make trades.

Did he learn from empire building round 1 (KD/Russ/Harden/Ibaka) when to pull trigger in rebuild round 2? He assumed he had forever the first time and when Kd left he learned things can change fast.

Before any trades today here is what Presti has to work with:

15 first round picks (nine guaranteed)
22 second round picks

Seriously he’s one of my favorite players on the Wizards from the last few years. One of the few bright spots. He’s going to be a beast in Dallas.

Really like this deal for OKC. Hayward still has some gas left in the tank, just needs to stay healthy.

I’ve been a fan of Gafford since he was a rookie for the Bulls. Love the acquisition, but really wanted him and Kuzma.

OKC already has a championship level big 3 in SGA, Chet, and Jalen

They need to trade those picks to fill in the gaps around them with great role players and depth

Thunder are going to be a huge problem in the west for a while it seems like. The city did great with approving the new arena now to capitalize on it.

Yeah he could be like Kevin Love for the Heat. Give him minutes that won't destroy his body and he could pay dividends in the playoffs.

@ShamsCharania

Thunder are sending guard Vasilije Micic, Davis Bertans, Mann and draft compensation to Hornets as part of the Gordon Hayward deal, sources said.

——

So Micic vice Poku. They still have 2 roster spots to fill, not done yet. Presti leaks nothing so ot will come out of nowhere. I suspect a big man for boards.

Marc Stein
@TheSteinLine

The Mavericks are trading their last available first-round pick (2027) to Charlotte to acquire PJ Washington but have managed to realize their objective of keeping Josh Green out of the trade, league sources say.

@TheSteinLine

League sources tell @TheSteinLine that Dallas is also acquiring Oklahoma City's second-least favorable first-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft this June to send to Washington in the Richaun Holmes-for-Daniel Gafford trade.

Dallas adding PJ Washington and Gafford on deadline day.

That's a lot of firepower for basically nothing.

Looks like that would be Utah’s 2024 which is 13th currently for Gafford. Great trade for both sides.
