Shams Charania
@ShamsCharania

The Wizards and Young’s representatives, CAA’s Co-Head of Basketball Aaron Mintz, agents Ray Young, Andrew Morrison and Co-Head of Basketball Austin Brown, land on a deal that will be less than the maximum for Young with Washington, but equal to the max he could have signed elsewhere.

Young – who wanted a trade to one team only, the Wizards, in January – stamps his desire to be in D.C. and elevate the team’s rising young core.

I stand firm on my opinion that Trae Young sucks and whatever "good numbers" he has are just a mirage.

He's an average to below average 3 point shooter that shoots anywhere from 5 to 10 threes per game.

They are trying really hard to convince people they're a playoff team and not really tanking. Getting Trae will keep them there for many years to come.

This is where Presti is good. Washington added a 4th year which is “player option”. Most of what Presti does the last year is “team” option. Makes a huge difference in how you manage roster dollars and tradability. Young got a player option in that 4th year which ties Washingtons hands. Had it been a team option then contract isn’t that bad.

He’s right about Presti

Though I do see AD and Young being great together, if they can play 70 games together a year

C - Sarr
PF - Davis
SF - Debantsya
SG - Johnson
PG - Young

George, Coulibaly, Whitmore, Carrington, and Champagnie off the bench.

That is a playoff team.

Nah Randle has Debbie Downer tendencies that they probably want to unload too.

Minnesota creating a $33m trade exception is huge. Could get Dort for pick #33.

Sign Dosunmu

Use the mid-level on Eason

Still have $16m of the trade exception to absorb a player like Herb for a first and two seconds.

Have all defenders around Edwards.

I'm shocked they didn't trade with Boston but it's probably best moving forward for their franchise.

No chance Miami is able to field a complete team long term now that they have 0 depth and no picks
