Every player ever save for one or two is worse in the playoffs
I think it was Prime used to use the explanation of him never having the great teammates around him, then he got Chris Paul, and still put up more terrible playoff games than the guys we compare him to, so that wasn't it.

Chris had never even made it out the second round til he joined up with James. Then he had Goat In a headlock til he tweaked his leg. this is an all time great sqaud. Mostly bc of James.

I'll give you the short argument because I really don't feel like doing the deep dive right now.
Harden gets all of these accolades for his scoring, but if you look at his shooting percentages, you'll see a player who is pretty much league average at all of the different ranges on the court. He gets credit for being this exceptional passer, but outside of his time with the Lakers, all of Dantoni's pgs average 10 or more apgs so that's nothing out of the ordinary. Granted he is a quality passer, but not nearly as great as the Mike Leach qb numbers would suggest and you have to factor in how reckless he is with the ball.
His defense is and always has been terrible. He's bottom quarter of the league bad. When your defensive lowlights tape is almost as if not as extensive than your offensive highlights tape then yeah you are terrible.
I will give him credit for being an exceptional free throw shooter, even if the reason why he is getting those shots is a direct results of the biggest problem the NBA has right now.
In short, he's a discount Steve Nash who takes much more shots but doesn't shoot them for any near the average he did. Nash was a borderline top ten player for a 3-4 year range, but can you honestly say that during those two mvp seasons he had he'd be a no doubt top ten player now? I can't. And literally the only thing Harden matches him in is free throw shooting.

You don’t even have to count Harden’s OKC years.
His first season he was with the Rockets was the first time he’s led a team, and he led that team of Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, Francisco Garcia, etc to 45 wins, the playoffs, and won two games against #1 seed OKC. And he was not anywhere near as skilled as he is now.
His teams just win.

Are they giving out Larry’s for WCF appearances now?

If he doesn't fix that, he will never get that credit for regular season success.

I'd probably put him around 9 or 10. To me these guys are clearly better than him:
KD
LeBron
Kawhi
Curry
Westbrook
Davis
Giannis
PG
If I could count on Embiid giving me 30 minutes a night for at least 70 games a year then slide him in behind Davis. Dude's basically played one season worth of minutes in his 4in the league so it's hard to really rank him. Harden is basically interchangeable with guys like Lilliard and Irving. You can build a team around them and make the playoffs, but you better have another top 20 player around them if you want to compete for anything.

Irving and Lilliard are both better shooters than Harden and while neither are good or even average defenders, they are still better than he is. He has more assists than they do, but again almost all Dantoni pgs have great assist numbers.

Oh boy, it just got awkward.
