It's pretty clear to me that Melo just doesn't have his legs anymore. Joining any team won't change that.
But HE has to realize that to even have a chance of being a quality player anymore, for anyone. He has skills to be a contributor, but he doesn't seem to understand his own limitations.

This Rockets team is done, even if they get Melo. They had their shot and blew it, and Harden proved again that he's still a choke artist that can't do what needs to be done when the time comes. He'll put up a great first half, then disappear, and he can't play even mediocre defense and great offense in the intensity that is the playoffs for more than 20 minutes or so.

Sounds like Hardwn may have exorcized his veto power. He may have someone else in mind for that role.

When you have to go full retard to prove a point, there's a good chance your point is shitty.

Why even address it? Take was just pulled from the MSB recycle bin without an original thought, or point, anywhere.

How? Even with everything going their way and Igoudala out, they barely won games 4 & 5, which required utterly stupid play by the Warriors in the closing minute to survive with wins.
Then, they lose one of their best defenders, still have to resign Capella, and might lose Luc. You think replacing Luc and Ariza with Melo is going to improve that team?
They were a strong defensive team with those guys. Harden can't handle playing full out defense and still be a dominant scorer. It was proven in the playoffs time and time again.
Paul is now a year older, and dealing with more injuries. This year was their window, and they blew it. They aren't going to be improved, while the Warriors will be improved.
How is that a shitty argument.

1. Clint will be back. He’s a RFA.
2. Iguadala is not the same player he was. He was not good this year. And at the same time, Mbah a Moute and Chris Paul were hurt for the Rockets. So your point is moot.
3. Y’all overrate the hell out of Ariza. He was a solid defender, but y’all are making him out to be way better on defense than he is. He also regressed this year. There were questions if Mbah a Moute should replace Ariza in the starting line-up.
4. Mbah a Moute didn’t play much in the playoffs because he was hurt. Assuming he comes back, he would play in Ariza’s spot in the playoffs and be no worse for wear.
5. Chris Paul had a strained hamstring. It’s not a long-term injury so that point of yours makes no sense.
6. Carmelo Anthony would increase the variance. Variance is what makes good teams better in the playoffs. The Warriors signing Boogie gives them another option to win depending on matchups. Carmelo would increase the variance for the Rockets as well.
7. The Rockets were less than a half away from reaching the Finals. Even if they brought roughly the same team back, they will still be competing for the title.

Subjectively evaluating 2 wins in a row, 1 home and 1 away, against the champs as "barely won" is reason #1. Particularly when the same could be said of GS winning without Paul playing. And how many games had GS lost in the playoffs to that point? A win is a win.

Then, they lose one of their best defenders, still have to resign Capella, and might lose Luc.
So, "they are done" before actually losing 2 of the 3 you're assuming they MIGHT lose? You're inferring what "might be" to evaluate "what is". No chance Clint goes anywhere, and the threat of Luc leaving consist of 2 random tweets with "sauces". Reason #2.

That's fine. They will just be 12 games better than the rest of the West, sans GS, instead of 16. And everyone is playing for 2nd place. That is today's NBA reality. And I guess, by your definition of "done", we're all done. Every single team but Golden State. But I'm going to watch anyway and be entertained.

+1
I've just been laughing at the Ariza comments the entire time.
Almost as bad as the Boogie outrage.

Ariza stunk on offense in the playoffs. No one is denying that. But he will be a loss, no doubt.
Paul was hurt in the closing minute or so of game 5. Winning by 3 and 4 despite having an advantage with Iggy out is something to take into consideration. Iggy isn't as great as he was, but was a key player for them and still one of their top 5.
Again, having depth helped the Rockets, they'll be losing that defensive depth and versatility if they just re-sign Luc and pick up Melo. They will be a worse version of their team from a year ago.
The Rockets will be a very good team, but they won't have improved at all.
As for Paul's hammy, he's been injured most of the last few season's for major stretches. This isn't something new. It is who he is. An injury-laden player that can't make it through a season healthy. Paul has missed 25% or more of the regular season 3 out of the last 5 years and the last 2 seasons. It's not random, unlucky injuries at that point. Almost all have been lower limb injuries. It's a pattern.

Still not really worried. I have a hard time thinking this wasn't considered possible and no I dont think Melo is the answer to the Ariza and mbah a Moute departures.

Rockets lose two forwards now — including Ariza — from NBA’s best regular season team. Houston is detemined to sign Carmelo Anthony once he becomes free in OKC, sources tell ESPN.
PJ Tucker as SF it is.
