To be fair, the Lakers were on pace for 50+ wins before Lebron’s injury iirc

Tacky nostalgia.

I believe it was 48 wins, and that was only 34 games into the season, not even half of a season sample size.
ETA: The Pels were on pace to win 48 games through November 19th

I prefer 82 games to project out my full season sample size.

The Lakers had a .600 winning % after they beat Golden State on Christmas after a 2-6 start to the season. They were most definitely starting to gel when Lebron went down imo.
They weren’t going to win the title regardless but they were starting to settle in and Lebron still looked like the best player in the world. I believe that team could’ve made some noise in the playoffs when everything tightens up and the rotations shrink.
It’s pointless to argue about what if though. The Lakers are in a much better position now, and the Pelicans have by far the brightest future in the association imo. Both franchises are in far better places than they were this time last year.

I think the Lakers and Pels both improved in the AD trade.
I know Pels fans rag all over AD now, but he's a legit superstar who is better than anyone LeBron's played with in talent and fit.
The Pels got a good return and flipped into a promising rebuild. They'll have choices to make over the next few years, but the new FO has to give some confidence they'll make those moves solidly.

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons has agreed to a five-year, $170 million maximum contract extension, agent Rich Paul tells @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium .

That JR Smith photo is greatness on so many levels.
And the Sixers are going to regret giving Dollar General Giannis that deal.

Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42 Starting in 2020-21, Philadelphia will make a $580M investment between four players: Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Al Horford and now Ben Simmons. The 76ers next season have $148M in salary between 11 players- $6M over the projected luxury tax threshold....

If it gets a title, it’s worth it.
If it don’t, it’s going to be someone’s arse because they don’t have much wiggle room to remake the roster.

It's gonna be fun watching LBJ vs LBJ lite in the finals next year

I wonder what Hinkie thinks about Philly’s moves since he got pushed out
This was his baby. Imagine how stacked this team would be if the Fultz trade didn’t blow up in big collar Colangelo’s face

For a franchise without a title since '82, it's worth the risk. Simmons and Embiid aren't perfect, but they're young and have a lot of talent.
Sooner or later (looking at you, Danny Ainge) you have to push your chips in to try to win big.
