Why should he? If you can't see why the 2 situations are completely different, low IQ?
Kawhi a) won at title with is first team, unlike LeBron and KD, and b) was TRADED to Toronto and won a title there in all of 1 seasons.
fricker could start a knitting channel on youtube and he's earned it.

AD’s first interview as a Laker
On waiving his trade kicker:
On waiving his trade kicker:

“Money comes and goes; your legacy is forever,” Davis said. “I think how you establish yourself in the NBA and what you do on and off the court is something that people will remember forever. Obviously, our money is public and people know what we make, but at the end of the day no one cares about how much money you make.”
“Anthony Davis is not going to be a great basketball player because of the amount of money he makes, it’s going to be about what he achieved on the court and also off the court. That’s all part of my legacy, and I think that’s way more valuable than any monetary value.”
quote:
Davis isn’t ready to think about his legacy with the Lakers yet, but when asked to name his all-time NBA starting five, he chose to stick with one franchise: “One would be Magic [Johnson],” Davis said. “Two would be Kobe [Bryant], three would be LeBron, I would be four, and five would probably be the most dominant player to ever play the game, Shaq [O’Neal].”
quote:
Davis said he wouldn’t talk about the specifics of his trade from the New Orleans Pelicans until the transaction was complete and approved by the NBA, but he laughed when asked about James’ Instagram post of the two of them wearing Lakers uniforms after news of the deal broke on June 15. “It was cool,” Davis said. “I always looked up to him. As a kid, [James] and Michael Jordan were the two guys I [admired]. I didn’t get a chance to watch Michael Jordan live, but I watched LeBron a lot after he entered the league and he was the guy that I looked up to.”

Bc we want the best players in the league to want to beat the other best players. Not team up with them.
That has been the underlying theme for the heat that both lebron and Durant have taken. It shows a lack of the dog competitiveness that we like to see with our elite athletes.

so...not sure why Kawhi would contemplate signing with a super team in the first place, but he's already proven without a doubt that he can do it on his own.
LBJ and KD started or joined a super team bc they couldn't.
i mean, just a slight difference there.
kawhi's pretty much earned the right to do anything he wants at this point

I already seeing a lot of tweets saying what he did would be worse than what the others did. They are all more alike than they are different. The differences are nit picking really.

But this is the reality of the NBA right now. Players now have power over where they play. I can't blame a person for wanting to play with a good team and make something of their career instead of wallowing away in a go-nowhere situation just because the fan pereception is better.
So Kawhi should stay at a place he got traded to just because it's better for a competitive league? Why don't you tell him that and see how it goes. Good luck, though. I hear he's a hard one to reach.

fricking :kige:
Kawhi could stay with the Raptors, or join the Clippers and still have a valid shot at a championship. Going to the Lakers would be the bitch route, ala LeBron and Durant.

Would be the first time in the NBA that 3 of the top 10 NBA players are on the season, with 2 being in the top 3...
The league is so close to a Golden Era of Parity that can allow it to challenge the NFL, and this will be a part of Kawhi's legacy.

It is not the reality. There will be literally zero super teams going into next season Unless kawhi makes one. Lebron been spurned by pretty much every star in the league the last few years. Bc guys don’t want it easy. They want to compete. Not super team.

i guess i look at it in a different light, LBJ is in pure ring chase mode right now as his years are dwindling down.
kawhi just wants to be in cali, rings be damn

quote:It's worse with Kawhi, because he has proved he can win without joining some super team BS. So, why do it? LeBron and Durant "had to", because they didn't/couldn't win without it. Kawhi can/has won without that bullshite. He has two other options that would allow him to still win, one being in the same city as the Lakers, so it's not like location would be a big factor.

So obviously if news comes out of the Lakers signing anyone other than Kawhi to more than the minimum (or exception) then that means they'd be out.
Is there any signing that would signal Kawhi IS signing with LAL? In other words are there any players reportedly waiting for Kawhi to go elsewhere to fill up the Lakers cap space?

If kawhi don’t go to the lakers this marks the end of the super team era. It will be great for the league imo.

I agree. It would be the first time in a long time that there wasn't a real "favorite" going into the season. I think everyone would love it, other than Lakers fans.

And yet you wanted one in Houston in wanting Butler.
And yes, Paul counts before you start crying about that

Magic Johnson working his verbal wizardry on Kawhi's people:
“The uncle’s questions were ‘what’s really going on in the organization between you, Jeanie, Rob Pelinka, everyone? Is it as dysfunctional as we’re reading and hearing?’ And the response was ‘we had some issues, but we’re past that. I’m past that. We’re still a family, such as you fight with your brothers and sisters sometimes, well, I had somewhat of a disagreement with my sister. And Rob Pelinka, yes, I said he was a back-stabber, but that happened then. Now I want the Lakers to be a championship team. Having Kawhi here would do that.
