This trade kickstarts the melo deal
No it doesn't
Portland's lineup:
Lillard/Napier
McCollum/Connoughton
Turner/Harkless
Vonleh/Aminu/Swanigan
Nurkic/Davis/Collins
Turner will overlap at SG as the game goes on. Harkless and Aminu will get most of the remaining SF/PF minutes. Leonard and Swanigan will battle it out for the remaining 10 minutes in the front court. I'm only penciling in Turner at SF cuz Stotts liked him starting down the stretch last year. In a perfect world, he's coming off the bench as a super sub at the SG/SF spots.
There's no way we're fitting Ryno in there unless we move 2 or more frontcourt players.

Not sure vonleh is even a rotation player on a playoff squad. Much less pencilled in as a starter.
Swanigan and Collins are gonna spend majority of the time in the G league.

I feel bad for him. I was hoping we would dump him and a Heat pick on somebody. A change of scenery could've done him some good. Oh well, it's not the worst thing. Would've been hard to dump him and we'll get it done when it counts. Now Ulis will see more minutes.

If you are starting Turner and Nurk, you don't think Ryno is a fit at the 4? shite it's almost a perfect fit.

Well, in order to take Ryno's contract you'd have to move a couple contracts. Harkless and Davis work, salary-wise.

What about the trade exception they just got from the trade today?
Posted on 7/25/17 at 5:08 pm to Boomshockalocka
Not big enough. TPEs can't be combined with anything else when used to absorb salaries. They'd need a 19.6 mil trade exception to take in Ryno.

Vonleh is a fine player. I agree He shouldn't start on a playoff team. He has a decent mid range game and can look the part on defense. He has no feeling for rythym or game flow though. He's bulked up quite a bit. I'm curious how he does this season.
As for Portcity:
That's a solid lineup. I'm just not in favor of adding a stretch 4 at $20M when he'll be the 4th option. Harkless is become a good 3pter and he makes half of Ryno while able to defend the PF/SF/SG positions.
ETA: to me Ryno is on the perfect team for his skill set and even they want to shop him. Perhaps I'm undervalueing him.

You aren't undervaluing him, it's been rumored that teams have asked for 2 1sts in order to receive Ryno's contract.

I'm calling bullshite. That's a huge rip-off.

That's really not a rip off if the two picks are in the late 20s. There's not much value with those picks and the odds of getting significant talent in those slots is beyond slim
Plus a team is taking on a $20+ mil contract for a guy worth half that

Remember, Houston can't send their 1st because of the CP3 trade. Idk where that pick is gonna come from

I'm sure Zach Lowe just makes stuff up for fun.

You didn't say late 1st rounders, you just said two 1st round picks.

Have you seen the contracts around the league? Anderson is definitely worth more than $10 million with a lot of other NBA contracts in mind, so you just seem to be interjecting your own opinion right there.
I find it hilarious how much trash people have talked about Anderson since he's been dangled as trade bait. He would start on most teams in the NBA, period. He shot about 40% from 3 and shot a lot of 3s during the season and he's a great stretch PF.
I know everyone hates the Rockets on here and wants them to fail, but lets be realistic here.

Who said he makes stuff up? His sources could be wrong, just like he never thought trade talks between HOU and NYK for Melo ever existed...which he's extremely wrong about. He even said he thinks they never existed on his podcast...but you know, lets take his word as gospel, right?

Well. the picks would probably come from the Rockets (thus being late first round).
I'm not making up the two 1sts thing, it's from Zach Lowe.

It's first rounders from the Rockets, not like it's gonna be a lottery selection unless Harden and Paul would both go down.
And outside of the Gasol deal, there really weren't too many awful ones this off-season because I think most teams learned from their mistakes last off-season But it also looks as if Brooklyn is becoming a foster home for those bad deals

except he's a net negative on defense and needs to be paired with a good defensive cast to minimize problems. I agree, he's very good offensively, one of the best stretch 4's in the league. But 19.5mil is a large pill to swallow for someone who is only going to give you maybe 30 minutes and does one job well.

When he was on the floor, the offense averaged 117.4 pts. When he was off they averaged 113.0. (That's +4.4).
That's a total of +6.2
He's been a net positive on both sides of the ball based on on/off numbers.
One of the reasons people are shitting on him is because he sucked in the playoffs this year. In the regular season he was very good.
