Oh no business owners trying to make money, what is this america??

It is inevitable. Although im not sure about the DVR thing. Sports is the last TV programming that is still immune to the DVR. Thats why they get such large TV deals.

I don't know why people are surprised by this. Really doesn't bother me

Not sure why this has taken so long to happen. I couldn't care less what is on a jersey. It will look awesome with jorts with or without ads on it.

I'd rather this scenario than having jerseys marred by ads:

Marv Albert: This first quarter sponsored by McDonalds.. IM LOVIN IT!

(spiffy little McDonalds logo graphic dances up to lock permanently by the scoreboard. Every updated score has the logo spin and dance for a second.)

That's the only thing keeping teams alive. I met a guy who played for a dozen European teams because the teams sponsors would pull out and the team would go under.

NBA would never allow that, plus they are an already stable league

Thoughts? I heard him say on the radio that the league needs to look at new advertising revenue sources because of DVR. Honestly, how many people watch NBA games on DVR? Just call it what it is, "I'm trying to get my owners paid!"

if he is going to try and use DVR viewing as an excuse for a blatant cash grab for teams that don't need it and wont use it to improve their franchises he had better be prepared for a massive shite storm of a backlash.

that has got to be one of the most bullshite reasons I've ever hear dot try and justify selling out your brands like that.

the whole reason sports are worth so much is because the vast majority of people DONT watch them on DVR.

also, if I'm a tv network negotiating for the NBA rights that are coming up I'd use this against him. I'd be all, "Ahh but Mr Silver, you said yourself people are watching on DVR so why should we pay you the massive increase in rights fees if we aren't going to get near the advertising money?"

Then my time to stop watching NBA basketball is inevitable.

Yet when players take that approach towards their own careers the general public shits all over them for being selfish.
