Are they getting a new stadium or is it "just their turn'?

New stadium opens next year.

But after this, Nashville should end up like NOLA and Miami in regular rotation for hosting Super Bowls. The stadium, hotels, convention center, and entertainment venues are all centrally located within about a 1 mile stretch. Nashville is even more convenient than NOLA when it comes to fans being able to walk to everything.

Except Nashville in February sucks. All indoors, which for the most part is fine, but you still have to walk to those places in the cold.

Cold? Nashville in February is not February in Detroit or Minneapolis. My guess is that it will be okay. Sure there is a chance of an arctic blast coming down, but it is more likely to be in the 50s or 60s or even the 70s.

I think the “normal” rotation (at least once a decade, and often twice) will be NOLA, Nashville, LA, Miami, Vegas.

The “secondary” rotation (1 every 10-15 years) will likely be something like Tampa, Arizona, SF, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta.

And then Chi, KC, Cleveland and DC will likely each get one after their new stadiums are built.

I was in Nashville in late January and it was in the teens. They'd risk this every time they have it there. Sure, there's an off chance it's in the 50s or 60s during the day, but more than likely going to be freezing or around freezing.

frick. That.

Nashville's average daily low temp is like 32 in February. Its not like you're talking about some brutal cold temps that'll be unbearable to be outdoors in. Its about a 10 degree average difference compared to places like Dallas or the northshore area outside of NOLA. Only about a 5 degree difference compared to Atlanta.

For Nashville, Tennessee on February 8, the normal/average temperature is roughly:

High: about 52°F
Low: about 31°F
Daily average: about 42°F

It is most likely the NFL will go to a 18 game season by 2023 and the game will be about Feb 15. The average highs are lows are fine. In fact perfect football weather in October/November. You can walk around with your jersey, sweatshirt, and light jacket even. If you want bikini and short shorts weather and crop top weather for the ladies then you are will have to have it in Miami, Tampa, or Los Angeles every year and even LA might not be warm enough for it each year.

The only way you’d avoid that then is to have every Super Bowl in Florida, California, NOLA, Houston, Vegas, or Phoenix. Every other NFL city has average temps that would be on par with Nashville or colder

To be fair, we had the same late January cold snap down here in Panama City, extremely uncharacteristic. We had a low of 16 one night.

It’ll be colder than that in Nashville in February. Cities like Minneapolis and Detroit are actually equipped to handle low temperatures and snow. Cities in Tennessee aren’t. Schools close at the threat of snow or ice here because they can’t properly treat the roads.

It isn’t likely to happen, but if it snowed in Nashville the SB could become a complete mess fast

New stadium is being built directly next door to the current stadium. The city forced out the downtown TA truck srop for the property- which is a shame because I spent a few nights there over the years and took cab rides all over town to go to concerts and such. Now the closest truck stop is the Loves on Trinity in the middle of the hood. No thanks.

Good list, but think Indy should be on there somewhere

I agree with this. Nashville gets some weather, and it doesn’t handle it well. This is one of those things where science says there’s a 90% chance it’s fine because it’s so infrequent. But the weather gods say blast your science and brings it that week.

The NFL totally abandoned their stadium capacity rules for hosting. Has to be at least 70000 seats. Nashville’s stadium seats only 60000. It’s expandable to 68000 but I don’t if that includes floor seating.

If I’m another franchise owner that built a larger stadium for the purposes of hosting the SB, I’d be pissed.

They just told Miami (capacity 64000) that Hard Rock is no longer suitable for hosting.

Vegas.

Until I went this past year, I never realize how walkable it is outside of the summer months.

I just wish they could get some sort of unified transportation network, and connect the Monorail line with the Airport and the football stadium.

One could use the Monorail and go from the north end and exit at the Grand walk to Excalibur and take the MGM line to Mandalay Bay and walk to the stadium. I think some Raider fans call it the Raider walk.

Also, the Monorail could use a few more monorail stations along the line. There is no Monorail stop at the Sphere, you either have to get off at the Horseshoe or Convention Center and trek back.

Stupid me thought I could walk to the Sphere in an hour from Excalibur. All I know my feet hurt. I think I walked 4 miles that day. Once I got to around to the Caesars properties, it felt less like a city, but more like an open Disney World with shops and attractions.
