Charlotte in 2018

It's not a true road course, but at least it's a change.

While I agree, this one has been clamored for for quite some time.

if they did go a year without change something, wouldn't that still qualify as a change?

I wonder how they would exit the pits?

I like it. Somewhat unrelated but one of the best races I've watched was the Rolex 24 in Daytona

IMSA ran a couple road races at Charlotte in the 80's if I remember correctly.

I miss road courses, I'm a pretty fair weather NASCAR fan and watch a race when I can (6-7 a year) but used to love the road courses. Watkins Glen (course in the NE) is actually the race that got me into the sport

Using the map above, and assuming they would use it unaltered, I would assume there would be a hard left turn out of the pits with a dividing line just like anywhere else. It would be a slower merge than others, to be sure.

Yeah COTA will never happen along with all the other awesome road courses in North America. If the track isn't owned by SMI or ISC it's never going to make it on the cup calendar and especially not into the chase.

With that said, having a road course race in the chase is long overdue. Those have been some of the most exciting races to watch over the past few years, but it's kind of disappointing that they are going to use the charlotte infield instead of watkins glen or sonoma.
