My playoff fix that is so simple it’ll never be considered!

Play all the bowl games with traditional tie in’s and when the games are over choose four teams for a playoff. Semis played at the home of higher seed, national championship at a neutral site. Why do we make this so difficult?

It would keep many of the top players engaged and also keep the bowls relevant. I like the idea.

Here’s mine:
1. First two rounds at home field, starting the weekend after the conference championship games, assuming you still have them.
2. Assuming there are four byes, the teams would only have a one week layoff from last game played.
3. Then bowl games, making sure no remaining teams get home field advantage due to geographic location.
4. Reseed after each round just like the NFL.

Should have just made it 8 teams. Going from 4 to 12 was too big of a jump especially for the first year.

Have two divisions in the SEC and B10.
Win your division, you make the playoffs. No conference championship game. Divisional record only determines champ as they'll still play interdivisional games that will matter for at large consideration, but not for divisional champion.
ACC and Big12 Champ get in. If they want a championship game, then they can have one. I do'nt really care.
Top 2 G5 teams get in and play each other during championship week. Two at large teams get in from any conference and also play each other in championship week.
Top ranked SEC/B10/ACC/Big12 vs G5 champ
2nd ranked SEC/B10/ACC/Big12 vs Two at large champs
3rd ranked SEC/B10/ACC/Big12 vs 6th ranked SEC/B10/ACC/Big12
4th ranked SEC/B10/ACC/Big12 vs 5th ranked SEC/B10/ACC/Big12
All of those games are played at home fields of top ranked team.

32 team super conference. The rest of the teams can frick off and figure their own shite out.
Format it exactly like the NFL.

Every team plays a 6-game regular season conference schedule, no OOC games.
Committee then seeds teams 1-128. 6 teams are left out.
128-team playoff. It'll take 7 weeks to finish.

I've been all over this for a while.

8 or 16. Byes are ridiculous in a subjective ranking system.
I think 16 gets to a point of inclusion that no one really has a leg to stand on at 17/18/19. 15 and 16 are lucky to be included.

- 16 teams
- 4 conference champs get autobids
- BCS picks additional 12 teams
- BCS ranks teams 1-16
- Top 8 get a home game around NYE/NYD (this would be the coolest weekend/couple of days in CFB history)
- Remaining 8 follow the current layout of quarters, semis, and final.
This is how it would've shaken out this year and it would've been electric:
1 Oregon v. 16 Ole Miss - Eugene, OR
2 Georgia v. 15 Miami - Athens, GA
3 Notre Dame v. 14 South Carolina - South Bend, IN
4 Texas v. 13 Clemson - Austin TX
5 Ohio State v. 12 SMU - Columbus, OH
6 Penn State v. 11 Alabama - Happy Valley, PA
7 Tennessee v. 10 Arizona State - Knoxville, TN
8 Indiana v. 9 Boise State - Bloomington, IN

We do not need a 16 team playoff. Way too many uncompetitive games will happen, just like this year.
There is no need for more than 8.
They are still students, and playing games during final exams is not something that happen before until this year. And college kids don't need to play 16-17 games.

FCS has zero issues with this, why would FBS schools?

Seeding was the biggest issue this year IMO. And it was a weird year. Go look at my matchups, there is one that is a blowout (OSU/SMU). The rest would be really good games.
And that schedule is the same as it is this year. Just instead of byes, they all play a round 1 game.

Army navy is the weekend after conference championships.

In an era where the PAC-12 still existed, maybe.
Bowl tie ins are ruined now unfortunately

Make every bowl game a playoff game starting with the Bourbon Bowl and the Baltic and Ralph Bowl. Set it up tournament style, something akin to March Madness—maybe “Winter Wackiness.” Shitty teams are allowed in if they meet minimum criteria. Give byes to the “real teams.” Culminate with the major bowls, crowning the Natty.

The only way to "fix" it in a way that alleviates the things everyone cries about is to blow up the current conferences and create a 32 team (Or some number people can agree on) premier league with equitable schedules and a playoff system to derive the top teams from similar to the NFL. Maybe set it up with a lower lever of the next tier (or rest of the FBS teams) with criteria for promotion and relegations.
Personally, I would not particularly like that. I prefer what we have now. But I would follow LSU whatever happens.
