Justin Fields aka “The One Read Pony” will not make it in the NFL. Dude can’t make progression reads, and he’s not a hard worker according to reports. Similar issue to Haskins

Well Dwayne Haskins sucks arse so I'll have to disagree.

He will be a bust. OSU plays against high school teams and it makes their QBs look better. He would be an average SEC QB. Haskins 2.0

You haven’t given any reasons why he will. Why would anyone waste their time trying to argue against nothing?

Leveling serious blanket charges of racism at Georgia to help his transfer because he didn't have the chest to compete is a pretty serious character flaw
The last 3 number 1 picks have all transferred after losing out.
Blame the NCAA for having such arbitrary transfer requirements
Fields threw that shite on Georgia, while at the same time his sister stayed on campus.
Dude sounds like he could be a coach-killer, and potentially a locker room cancer if he doesn't get his way. I think that's why he's starting to slide in the projections, because he sure seems to have the physical tools.

quote:I always get a kick out of how he manages to inject his stupidity out of nowhere. The thread is claiming he will flame out as an NFL player, you and others state why they don’t believe he will and all the sudden he makes a claim that you all are implying he should be the number one pick despite not a single poster even mentioning Lawrence.
You’re too uneducated to even attempt to argue with.

Ohio State seems to like him.
If you’re a Coach and your team drafts Fields in the first and you decide you like a Fromm-type you are going to lose your job.

Feel like making good and fast reads is important in the NFL. There any data about him doing this?
Posted on 4/17/21 at 6:43 pm to Tshiz
When is the last time an Ohio State QB has made an impact in the NFL?
Posted on 4/17/21 at 6:50 pm to Tshiz
Nah, this kid has much better character than a Haskins, he'll be successful in the NFL.

I saw Justin Fields take big hits from Nebraska, Illinois, and Maryland, not exactly the elite defenses of the B1G. That, plus his propensity to make plays with his feet (which he is good at) doesn't bode the greatest for the NFL.
Plus, his hands are almost as small as Joe Burrow! 9 1/8.

Physically, I think Fields can play that scheme. He isn't THAT short (Brees and Wilson negate the theory that you have to be 6'5).
It's probably politically incorrect to say this, but I think what happened with UGA is going to follow him. Teams are going to have to figure out if that was purely a transfer trick (done without good taste), or if he's got some Kaepernick in him.

To be fair, Haskins was said to be the most accurate passer of that draft by many of the experts.
Fields has a higher floor with his athleticism alone, however. I’m not sold on Fields being a long term franchise type guy but c’mon - worse than Haskins?!

I have a feeling a lot of this talk is because ESPN is a partial host of the 1st two rounds and are hyping as many players as they can to get viewers.... I will say this, any team that moves up to take Trey Lance or Fields is making a mistake. The same with Mac Jones.....

Fields seemed like the #2 guy for the past couple years, I really haven't seen how he'd have blown that. I do understand Wilson has moved up, we get one of those every year.
If the argument is "Fields is okay but surrounded by great talent" with Ohio State, isn't Jones the same argument?
I do think Trask>Jones, but I also see both as career backups.
Looking at it from a Saints fan perspective- Jameis makes me nervous, but I'd take him over everyone but Lawrence and Wilson right now.

I’d take Winston in front of both TL and Wilson.... IMO the best QB in this draft is Wilson but he’s going to the Jets. Besides the Bengals the Jets are the worst run franchise in the NFL.
