Didn't Coach Boom burn some bridges on his way out of Austin? I mite be thinking of another coaching change, but I thought I remember something bout his departure not being all that positive for the UT athletic dept.

Florida is every bit as good of a job as Texas, IMO. That being said, I don't know if their pockets are as deep as Texas'.

Indeed they have. Though I have met a few UT fans that wouldn't necessarily be upset to see him go.

You make it seem like Dodds has acted alone with the Big 12 demise and the A&M rivalry...I guarantee you that some of those decisions are above him.

He's been the guiding force behind them. And he's also the guy who's bungled the implementation of some of these plans.

Dodds cares more about UT fans' checkbooks than he cares about UT fans.

I think that is the case with many big time programs, including LSU...the price of football season tickets has skyrocketed in recent years, and the addition of surcharges/PSL's just for the rights to buy tickets has priced out a lot of people.

Not sure how Dodds has differentiated himself in the money grubbing dealings with UT fans...

Chicken, you clearly missed the thread I and these A&M fans had awhile back where a large portion of the Aggie fan base truly believes that DeLoss Dodds had secretly been conspiring against them during their time in the Big 12 conference. This also the reason they believe they are doing better now (because he can't control them through the conference).

Among other conspiracies they sincerely believe:

UT controls all the Texas media outlets which "limited their exposure" on national television and led to the detriment of their program putting them at a mediocre level in the Big 12, but since they have a new SEC deal they are more "National Brand" and "UT is not". Unfortunately for A&M fans UT has been a nationally recognized program for many years now.

UT was scared to play A&M in the Cotton Bowl.

UT is scared of A&M in recruiting now.

^ All bullshite lies A&M fans believe like they believe they breathe oxygen.

Your people said it!

KaiserSoze was a big proponent of these so-called "conspiracies".

I'm not the biggest Alleva fan in the world, but there are some key differences. The biggest is that Alleva is more keeping up with the Joneses when it comes to finding more money to peel out of fans' wallets. Dodds is one of the guys setting the curve. He's way out in front on this issue, while Alleva is just keeping up, on a slightly smaller scale to stay competitive.

And say what you will, but LSU under his tenure has been about as good as it has ever been in sports. He has put money back into the facilities and coaching hires, and the teams, by and large, win. Sure, he's shaking us down for as much coin as he can, but he's holding up his end by putting out competitive teams in nice facilities.

Dodds is just finding new and more inventive ways to shake down the fanbase, and its not showing up on the field. They are getting results, just more inventive ways to spend more money.

My father in law, who's as hard-core Longhorn as they come (which is why having his daughter graduate from A&M tickles me to no end), told me last week that he's hearing Mack has already agreed to take over as AD after 2013 (and, assumedly, that Dodds has pegged this as his departure date as well).

I can believe that part, but it's the "and we'll get Saban to coach" part where he lost me.

In any event, rumor mongering is always a good way to pass the offseason time.

Also, A&M fans would have to find a new excuse to not play their daddy if Dodds leaves soon.

This horrible troll attempt makes no sense given the Aggies "excuse" is that DeLoss won't play them. Deloss is the one that said UT does not have an opening until 2018 or what ever. If the Aggies are making that up, it could easily be debunked.

Wonder what will happen to Fields and the golf program. Deloss spends a ton on them.

Most fans hate AD's when they have to fork over more cash. No one wants to pay themselves, however, if you want to win, you need revenue, so I can hardly fault any AD for find new revenue streams even if some fans whine about it and lets be honest, most of these fees do not affect a large majoirty of the fan base.

Overall, Dodds tenue has been very sucessful. However, it seems at the end, he has misjudged some very critical issues. The LHN has been a PR disaster for UT. It has been extremely polorizing and made them an easy target and for what? They get roughly $15M a year, which sounds like a lot of money, but they probably could have gotten a similar amount as an equal portion of a Big12 Network, without all the bad publicity. A&M going to the SEC was the best thing A&M has done since going coed. It's given them a ton of buzz and renewed enthusism for Aggies. But more importantly it differentiates them from UT and gives them more revenue then they would have gotten in the Big 12.

that's my point. He has dropped the ball on some huge issues, and the results on the field are no longer there. It's a lot different if you're winning, which UT isn't.

And his weak arse troll of Mizzou was just beneath any AD's dignity. Stop that.

Assuming Boom continues Florida's upward momentum, why would he leave to go to Texas? Both are Top 5 jobs in the country. I know Florida couldn't match every offer that Texas threw at him but it would seem a bit exorbitant for them to drop 6 or 7 mil on him. His agent would be pumped though.
