Seems like the unlikable crowd has really grown under Silver. Bron, KD, Simmons, Kyrie, AD...

Is this the worst era?

It’s a different time now. For Durant’s first few years in the league everyone thought he was a humble, mild mannered guy. But social media and the 24 hour sports talk environment exposed him as kind of a dick.

Can we just include the entire roster of the Detroit Pistons in the late 80’s & early 90’s.

Huge difference between being rough players on the court (basically dirty) to being hyper-sensitive and over-inflated douchebags with an absurd delusion on your worth to society.

For example, Steph Curry used to get a ton of hate for chewing on his mouth guard. Think of how stupid that is compared to the ridiculousness of LeBron, Durant, AD, Harden, Simmons, etc.

Durant and Draymond Green are likely top 5 for me ever.

And it’s mainly on him. If you list the things he did and said that make him unlikeable, no players come close to him.

I think it wasn't as much "social media/sports talk" (those things had been around pretty much his whole career, and certainly by the time of the Heat series in 2012) and more basically when he left to Golden State (both the decision itself and his actions after that). That was a huge heel turn. Don't know if he was just able to hide it during his time with OKC and the decision to leave then made it so he started showing his true self, or if seeing everyone's negative reaction caused him to fake being a heel a bit as a joke. Probably a bit of both: 70% the former, 30% the latter.

This is definitely the worst era, but this is also the first time we've had unfettered direct access to athletes stream of consciousness and personal lives via social media. That same social media has turned already arrogant narcissists into completely nutjobs, and they're happy to put that on full display all the time.

I think Durant really was like that but all the pressure and fame went to his head.

LeBron-lack of self awareness, race baiting, uneducated, flopping/soft

Durant-slightly autistic

Davis- boring and soft

Simmons-not as good as he thinks he is

Harden- not committed, folds when times get tough.

Kyrie- not as smart as he thinks he is, doesn’t love basketball at the same level.

CP3- dirty player, whiner, manipulated the CBA for his own benefit. Little man’s syndrome(his own brother says that to this day)

I don't know that people disliked Joe Dumars or Vinnie Johnson.

The era with Bill Laimbeer and John Stockton has to be up there.

Yeah I think the circumstances are more to blame than the individual personalities.

The previous generations worked to empower players, and this generation is reaping the benefits.

Ask Dennis Rodman about his thoughts on Vinnie Johnson.

Yeah CP3 doesn't belong on this list.
