Karl Malone got a camp close to my house he waves when he goes by. But I have never really spoke to him. I know people who are friends with him

Shaq made a lifetime fan of me in 1990 when I asked him for his autograph in the quad. I was maybe 5'2" in the 8th grade, and he saw me hovering trying to decide whether to come over or not. He asked me how did you know it's me when I'm wearing shades. Then he took my notebook and drew his name with stars around the letters covering the whole inside cover. I was thrilled.
I'll never forgive my grandmother for taking that notebook away from me to store it for safekeeping. She died 2 years later, and I never saw it again.
Other famous sports figures I have met: Jack Kemp, Don Sutton, Dusty Baker, Jim Abbott.

I met Tiger at a junior golf tournament at the Air Force Academy almost 20 years ago.
Met John Elway at a golf tournament social hour about 10 years ago. Shared a beverage and chatted for 5 minutes.

Just like a bunch of you living in NOLA, I've met Drew Brees . Also had many encounters with Shaq when he was in summer school around 1998.
But if we're talking timeframe, this would have to be near the top. I met Ricky Williams in New York the day after he won his Heisman. He was a real nice and gave me a big laugh when I jokingly told him I hoped he would be playing in New Orleans. Both of us had no idea of the debacle that lied ahead.

Peyton Manning - had a few mutual friends in college. Was in Knoxville the weekend after he announced he was staying for his senior year. Incredible to see all of the adoration.
Don Mattingly - Sheraton next to the old Rangers ballbark. Was his birthday and he had me carry some shite back to his room. Gave me an autographed ball in exchange. Met all of the Yankees in that era an also Yankee greats like Billy Martin and Phil Rizzuto.
John Elway- Rode elevator in same hotel in Arlington.
Brees - exchanged peace at church.

Michael Moorer drunk being rolled in to a hotel on an office chair. I don't think he remembers introducing himself.
