you will be able to transfer 1 time without having to sit out....but LHSAA is not going to allow a coach to bring his whole team with him and will still enforce recruiting rules.

It’s not the LHSAA wanting that it’s the legislature, who should really be focused on fixing failing public schools.

fixing failing public schools.
how...explain how they are supposed to do that unless they challenge in the courts the desegregation rulings, ability to paddle kids, and the ability to expel kids for being class disruptors?
you need to understand there is a culture that doesnt value school and academics at all and there is a huge segment, both black & white, that the parents do not care about education.
so how do you expect them to "fix it"
in fact you should start a thread on the OT explaining it.

the school's are not failing. The families, or lack of, that is failing Louisiana.

Provide better facilities?
Sure thing douchebag, feel free to write us a fricking check.
And I’m not acting like I own shite. Not sure where you pulled that out of your arse from. Kids are free to choose wherever they want to go to school. I’m all for that. Once you make that decision, live with it, or go through the process of sitting out a year like the rules state.

for all the ones bitching....here is a simple solution...learn to fricking compete and invest in your schools and programs instead of just complaining that things are unfair!!!
Who is saying things are unfair? Sounds like you have a certain agenda that has nothing to do with this.
You can compete and invest all you want. That isn’t going to stop sleazy shitbags from selling parents and kids bullshite at 7 on 7’s, AAU games, club soccer, club volleyball, etc…there will be no way to police it. It’s right there in plain sight right now. Look at Ole Miss and Clemson. Both of those schools compete I’d say. Both of those schools invest in their programs I’d say. Yet Ole Miss is still contacting kids on Clemson’s roster while they’re in class. You’re fricking dumb if you don’t think the same shite will happen in high school.
There’s nothing wrong with the current rules in regards to transferring. If this gets forced through, they will be opening something that is going to lead down a bad road.

or here is an idea, develop a better tax base, get people to donate more, sell more advertising, or raise taxes overall

i fundamentally disagree.
imo kids should be able to go to any school they choose declaring at the start and then have 1 free transfer.

so rare not even worth discussing and that would fall under recruiting anyways

It will even out… you will have kids in your district that go somewhere else

I lump players having tuition waved at a private school for athletic purposes or having other parents paying tuition to keep a travel ball team together as a player getting paid to go to a school. If you look at it that way it's not as rare as you think.

how is that getting paid? just makes it cost the same as public school...its just evening the playing field.
if the public school has a better learning environment, better teachers, better academic rep, better facilities, better coaching.....even if both are free...the kid would choose the public school.

All of this over high school athletics which is supposed to be about home grown kids representing their schools and thier communities on the athletic fields. College athletics is in a crisis right now and you want to march high school athletics down the same path.

Thing is, the Northshore public schools would benefit because they’re places parents want to be…

changing “select” and “nonselect” into “zoned” and “nonzoned”…
Isn't that the same thing? Any school that takes kids outside of their attendance zone is select and any school that only takes kids in their attendance zone is nonselect

Having said that I know of a kid that played varsity last season at a public school and is now playing varsity at a private school, did not sit. Not sure how they were able to get the waiver from LHSAA, but they did it.
Pretty sure the only way to do this "legitimately" is to meet the criteria for a bona fide move to a new residence into whatever attendance zone the private school is in

I thought so too but also had to sit a year or apply for a hardship waiver a hope LHSAA approves it.
