$5,000 for a pitch means there has to be more involved, right?

That’s where this stuff gets scary is when they are strong armed into it based on threats to their families, friends etc. for not going along with it…especially players not from the States

Player prop bets need to go away

How dumb is Clase? He had a $20 million contract and threw it away to rig a prop bet.

He if stayed health might have had another $100 million after that

While I’m thankful to read this and to not know what it means, I heard it said on a podcast the other day, and found it extremely poignant:

“Imagine if you were an alcoholic and carried around a fifth of whiskey in your pocket everywhere. That’s essentially what compulsive gamblers do now just by having their cellphones in their pockets.”

No. Advertising something, doesn’t mean that players should be doing it. The players know it’s against the rules, ESPN running ads for betting sites doesn’t mean it’s okay for active players to do it.

This guy is done.

Send him back to whatever Dominican shite hole he crawled out of, he’s already served an 80 game suspension for testing positive for Boldenone…a horse steroid.

You and I diverge here. Legalized gambling is pushing these guys into the hands of mob books and getting the players to committ more of this sort of thing. Too much legalized betting is the Bookie Employment Protection Program.

They're going to get caught. This is the early adoption period. In time the bad actors will realize that the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

These sports players are just completely ignorant to how this whole thing sets up and how they will get caught, especially if they do it more than once.

This kind of stuff happens all the time in tennis and nobody does anything about it.

Eventually guys will figure out how to cheat the sports book and get away with it. Hadn’t happened yet but eventually they will figure out a way.

I remember 5dimes used to put out live betting lines and occasionally they’d have wrong lines and me being a smart player would jump on it. Tony would then message me and say “if you jump on one more bogus line you are outta here and they’d cancel the bet”. To me it’s like the game is already rigged against the players. If the sports book makes a mistake, then eat the loss. Tony was murdered in Costa Rica a few years after so I guess he got what he deserved for running a crap shop.

But I don’t think FanDuel or DK are any better. They need to accept when they lose. They can always take lines or games off the board. They only bitch when they lose money. These guys put lines up for pro wrestling an actual fixed sport.

For me I’m for anyone that rips off these books. And if you are a bettor on the wrong side of the fix so be it. Pay attention to line movement next time

Prop betting is an unnecessary killer. If you are enough of a gambling degenerate to feel the need to bet on whether the first pitch of an inning will be a ball or strike…there might be a hotline for you to call.

This makes it way too easy to influence outcomes, no matter how big or small. It’s ridiculous.

They had less evidence on Pete Rose than any of these current incidents and MLB banned him for life and denied the HOF.
