Stop the charade already
Black people just don’t give a damn about baseball. It’s not a game they like. You can’t just out athlete the other players. So they like basketball and football more. I don’t know a single black person that loves baseball
And there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t like soccer. So the frick what? Who cares?

You know, I can't remember the last time I talked to a black guy about baseball
Posted on 7/19/22 at 9:01 pm to AHM21
So is it okay for a white guy to ask about more white people in the NBA or is that different?
Posted on 7/19/22 at 9:15 pm to A Menace to Sobriety
Good god some of u are really reaching. Mookie betts is one of the best people in pro sports , openly denounced the killing of the white LA cops a couple of years ago... Nothing about the dude is race based or race baiting. Im betting on its a plea to the black community to take more of an interest in baseball

so then it's fine if i say we need more white people in Baton Rouge? that wouldn't be racist right?
There’s better ways to fix that ratio

Someone wear a shirt asking why do black people hate Asians so much
If black people hated Asians so much. Why are there so many Asian businesses in the black community. They own the liquor stores, nail salons, hair stores, and restaurants. Blacks and Asians interact daily with no issues. Stop letting the media propaganda educate you. White people have done more harm to Asians than anyone.

Don’t tell black people what to do

I have no issue at all with the shirt, but I'm very confused at the reasoning behind wearing the shirt.
1) What message is he trying to send?
2) Did anyone ask him that question? Or did they just take the picture because they knew it would spark conversation and more than likely create divide? (Probably the latter)
Is he encouraging more blacks to get interested in/start watching baseball?
African Americans make up 7% of MLB rosters. It's declined each decade from the 70s, 80s and 90s. The interest just hasn't been there from AAs. Which is sad bc some of the greatest players in the history of the game are black. However, MLB has started to create programs like RBI to help low income children get involved in the game. Termarr Johnson even credited those programs in helping him become the player he is now.
Is he saying that something needs to be done to allow more AAs to attend games? Such as lowering ticket prices, concessions, parking, etc.
Because if that's his message, stuff like this is exactly what's wrong with our country right now.
AAs have just as much accessibility to the ballpark as literally any other race. The same things keeping them from going to games are the same things keeping everybody else from going.
I looked at going with a friend who is from LA and lives close to Dodger Stadium. We were looking at going to the game. Face value tickets on the MLB website STARTED around $625 for the All star week festivities. There aren't a whole lot of people regardless of race that can just drop that kind of money for an experience like the ASG. That isn't even counting parking, concessions, merchandise, etc.
But instead of someone actually doing their job and asking questions, we get a picture posted to social media for likes, comments and retweets. That's what's so frustrating about where we are as a society. Instead of taking action and actually making changes and trying to better society, people do stuff like this to create more divide.

What’s political about encouraging black people to stop killing each other?
Posted on 7/20/22 at 6:04 am to TackySweater

Why does he need to call out blacks specifically?

Best part about saying this is they will look you dead in the face and say
“Well if they were good enough and had the talent to play they’d play”
Like yes………. You’re right…….. Soooooooooooo………….

They operate those businesses out of kindness

This one doesnt seem so bad. Its not a protest right? Is it not just a call to his people to show up and get interested in baseball

I always get a good chuckle at the “baseball is not diverse enough” crowd. There isn’t a more diverse sport! Last night, they had Papi running around interviewing guys and he couldn’t find a white guy lol.
If Mookie isn’t satisfied with the guys he has around him he should first, let the other races from all nationalities know that they aren’t good enough for him and second go out and promote the game to black people. It baffles me how it’s somebody else’s fault that he doesn’t see the people he wants at the game
