With his salary he could easily buy 1k or so a game and give them away. Wonder why he doesn’t do it?

has he openly blamed white oppression for the 7.2% stat I listed? Honestly curious because , again, it doesn't sound like a "we are oppressed" statement, more of he wants more of the black community to take an interest in baseball.

black community has way more things to worry about, than attending mlb games.

hum, maybe murders should be #1.

A shirt reading<" Stop Killing each other" might be a little more pro active. But hey, make sure 5 more blacks attend per game.

professional sports have been campaigning extremely hard and catering to black people for the better part of the last twenty to thirty years. MLB in particular has the cheapest and most affordable tickets out of all the professional sports.

just because black people don't completely dominate the fan attendance (like Mookie and some others want) doesn't mean that something "needs to change". it means that they're not interested in going to the games.

why isn't Mookie concerned about the lack of Asians in the NFL and NBA? ... oh wait .... we all know why.

Mookie is earning $27 million in 2022 for the MLB season (not counting sponsors which likely pushes him over $30 million). now given...he does play in The Peoples Republic of California... so he does pay more taxes than most.... but that's still about $10-12 million he'll see after taxes and his agent's cut.

why isn't Mookie spending AT LEAST 25% of that money to help pack the stadiums with the skin color he wants to see?

With the airbrush design of the shirt it kinda seems he is talking to black people. “Come support us” type message? I dunno, maybe I’m reaching.

Do blacks pay more or less per ticket?

Why does he need to call out blacks specifically?

I’d like to see a graph of “fatherless homes” and black participation in baseball juxtaposed. Baseball is a skill sport and requires tremendous effort and practice and teaching to get good at it. This is why I think we don’t see black kids playing baseball anymore… nobody around to teach them.

Blacks were at a historic low unemployment when Trump was in office. Back to the end of the line they went when Biden “if you don’t vote for me then you ain’t black” got in there.

Does he think George Wallace is blocking the ticket office at the stadium? I don’t think anyone is stopping anyone from buying tickets.

Not sure what he is trying to accomplish here? Encouraging blacks to attend baseball games? That is good, but they have the option to buy tickets just like anybody else. I understand his desire to see more representation. I agree that baseball is the most diverse sport in America and I love it for that. I just don't want to see political stuff trickle into baseball. I find it to be a pure sport.

I keep hearing how we need more blacks playing baseball, but as I watched the MLB draft this year I saw a ton of black Americans selected. Especially in the first round.

However, it did seem like most had MLB bloodline connections.

African-American players. Black players are a larger percentage.

It's attributed to lack of representation in the sport when compared to basketball and football, but it's a chicken egg situation. They don't see representation so they don't play, but since they don't play there's no representation.

There was more representation in the 1970s and 1980s. Something had to cause a dropoff from there.

Baseball takes longer to get to the big money.
Basketball- one and done
Football - three years of
college
Baseball- ride those minor league busses for years
